Care everywhere, because everyone matters❤️ To help provide access to primary care for our community members in western North Carolina, Atrium Health is deploying our Care Everywhere mobile medicine units and extending our school and community-based virtual care services in Rutherford and Cleveland counties. These free services will be available to community members of all ages, offering essential medical care to individuals and families in need. When ground transportation isn't possible, and seconds matter, MedCenter Air takes flight to provide relief for those in need. Atrium Health’s MedCenter Air provides lifesaving care before a patient even reaches the hospital. Equipped with advanced technologies and state-of-the-art medical equipment, their skilled medical team includes registered nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics and EMTs, pilots and more, operating a fleet of airplanes, helicopters and ambulances. Thank you to our MedCenter Air teammates for mobilizing so quickly to provide relief to those affected by Hurricane Helene.

“We bring more than just medical relief. We bring hope,” shares Calvin Harvel, peer support specialist at Atrium Health Behavioral Health Charlotte. Atrium Health’s MED-1 mobile hospital has been deployed to Tryon, NC, in response to the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene. Activated by the state, MED-1 is the receiving hospital to triage, treat and transfer patients, as needed. The MED-1 team is comprised of dedicated health care professionals—nurses, doctors, trauma surgeons, paramedics, IT specialists and support staff. Wendy Henson, nurse leader with MED-1, says, “If you can make a difference, it’s completely worth it.”

Atrium Health’s MED-1 mobile hospital was deployed to Tryon, NC. Brian Sutton, nurse manager of MED-1, shares a behind-the-scenes tour of the preparation. As the world's first hospital on wheels, MED-1 is designed to provide comprehensive patient care. This unique mobile emergency department includes digital x-ray, ultrasound, lab, pharmacy, 14 acute care beds and a 2-bed operating room, among other essential medical facilities. We’re committed to providing immediate and long-term disaster response and recovery for our communities and to fulfill our mission to improve health, elevate hope and advance healing #ForAll.
