Clinicians have a lot to contribute in many areas, and can serve in multiple ways. Many SCP Health medical directors serve on committees at their hospitals, including: Graduate Medical Education Committee Sepsis Committee Patient Safety Committee Patient Satisfaction Committee Leadership Council Ethics Committee Joint Operation Council Critical Care Committee Additionally, they volunteer with local organizations, such as: Boy Scouts Hospice centers Food pantries Cancer centers Burn camps American Heart Association American Cancer Association Disaster relief National Kidney Foundation Clinicians Communities = Exceptional Care #TogetherWeHeal

Here are two quotes from two different articles regarding the responsibility of a physician to EMS. I wonder if physicians in the historical past of EMS knew of this responsibility. There were some physicians that certainly did. A big THANK YOU to the early pioneering EMS physicians. “In summary, an effective system of EMS is obtainable for every locality in the country by the simple measures described as comprising one of the systematic approaches to its development. The absence of such a system in a community is a black mark on the records of its physicians.” A Systematic Approach to Emergency Medical Services. Hampton OP. Arch Environ Health. 1970 Aug;21(2):214-7 “Accidental death and disability must no longer be the neglected disease of modern society. The practicing physicians is primarily responsible for the initial development of his Community EMS Council.” Your Community Emergency Medical Services Council. Rumage WT. Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, Volume 21, 1970 - Issue 2
