Getting the Big Picture Metrics are an important part of event marketing. They allow you to determine how well your event has been received by attendees, allowing you to make adjustments and changes accordingly. Metrics are also helpful for determining how well your marketing efforts are working, which in turn allows you to tweak those efforts as needed. The key is to track the right metrics for your events and industry. For this, you should have a clear idea of what your goals are. Find the metrics that show if you're improving over time and giving value to your audience. To do this effectively, it's important to understand what these metrics are and how they relate to one another. For event professionals, there will be the obvious metrics relating to audience numbers, how many return for events, emails and social media. But there are others like cohort metric that show if your engagement is improving over time. If you have your own website, for example, you probably are tracking stats on it. Learn about what the stats are so you understand where improvements can be made. There are so many metrics that sometimes you can lose sight of the bigger picture. Or are you like me, watching because the best part is seeing what companies with those big, healthy advertising budgets come up with? As a marketer, I love events. And though I might never make it to a Super Bowl (and let’s be real, T-Swift tickets are just as hard to come by), there are certainly a few tricks we can borrow from those coveted commercial spots for our own event purposes: ⏱️ Be concise. Super Bowl ads have 30 seconds to make their pitch, and at a real-life event, you only have about the same amount of time to make an impression! Spending time getting your messaging and graphics right is worth it. 📱 Get interactive and think beyond the print. Many Super Bowl spots are just one (very expensive) campaign element. Leverage QR codes to help people easily learn more about your company — from exactly where you want them to learn it. 🗓️ Timing is everything! I can guarantee that a brand with a Super Bowl spot doesn’t leave it up to chance; they plan it months ahead. With big conferences and tradeshows just finally starting to pick back up, remember, we meet face-to-face less often these days. Take advantage of this time to connect in person and schedule meetings ahead of time. 👍 Don’t forget about social media. You might not be making a viral commercial, but it’s a great way to keep the conversation going (and remember to include your social media managers in the event planning!).
