We recently held testing for several employees for the Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 ACI certification. Our employees put many hours into reading the workbook and performing concrete tests in our lab to be successful. Congratulations are in order to all on our team who now hold this certification! #precastconcrete #howprecastbuilds #continuingeducation

Causes of Anchors Failures in Construction ⚠️ Incorrectly installed anchors can have catastrophic consequences ⚠️ When an anchor or fixing is incorrectly installed, it can not only cause site damage but also increase the risk of injury or loss of life to those on-site. That’s why it’s crucial to ensure compliance with BS 8539. These are the most common causes of anchor failure: ✔️ Installers aren’t trained or supervised ✔️ Manufacturer’s instructions aren’t followed ✔️ The correct setting equipment isn’t used ✔️ The wrong action is taken when the rebar is stuck. You can avoid these failures by using ETA/UKTA-approved anchors with PGM Approved drill-bits, supervising installations and ensuring your installers are competent. Want to expand your installers’ knowledge and skills? Join us! 👇 As part of our extensive training programmes at our academy in Reading, we offer seminars on correctly using our products and safely installing anchors and fixings so you are compliant. Due to popular demand, we've added an extra Pipeline Repair course to the calendar. The course will now be held in Brisbane on 22-23 May, as well as in Perth on 28-29 May. Facilitated by US expert, William A Bruce, the objective of this course is to provide an in-depth overview of the various aspects of pipeline modification and repair (full encirclement sleeves, hot taps and so on) and to address the concerns associated with welding onto in-service pipelines. A thorough understanding of the factors that affect welding onto in-service pipelines helps avoid pipeline shutdowns and interruptions of service, thereby bolstering both economic and environmental benefits for operators and welders alike. Plus, repairs can be undertaken efficiently, effectively and with full confidence. https://lnkd.in/g3PbMbEA #PipelineRepair #WeldingCourse #PipelineWelding #InServiceWelding #HotTapping #WeldingEducation #PipelineIndustry #WeldAustralia #EnergySector #OilAndGasIndustry #InfrastructureRepair

𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 - an aspect of anchor installation that shouldn’t be underestimated. You may have done it many times in your professional life, but there are some things that could go wrong! This is due to the several variables that can affect the accuracy of the drilling and in turn, the anchor installation. To name a few: ◾ As you would know, holes should be drilled to the correct diameter and depth for that specific anchor as per the manufacturers’ guidance. But there are some common mistakes that can make this alone much more difficult. Such as: → Not holding the drill ‘dead’ vertical so the hole is straight, especially when using rod hangers or wedge anchors, can magnify the slight angle. → The vibration of the drill bit, caused by percussive action, makes it easy for the sliding depth adjuster/gauge to move once it hits the substrate, resulting in the hole not having the intended depth. → Not using a sliding depth adjuster – despite the above point, it’s still important to use one for reference. Alternatively, an SDS stop drill bit can be used if it’s correctly sized. → Regardless of what drill bit is used, where possible it should be stamped with a PGM mark. The mark ensures the diameter of the hole is correct. On top of ensuring the correct depth, you need to think about: ◾ Regularly inspecting and replacing worn drill bits. These can result in undersized holes, making installation difficult and increasing stress on the anchor material, potentially leading to a failure. ◾ Hole cleaning! Removing dust and debris is more important than you might think for site safety as well as the quality of anchor installation. So if you have a dustless drill bit, use it; if you don’t, get one! If you know of any other practices more installers should be aware of that can affect the quality of anchor installations 👇 leave them in the comments! I'll also leave a link in the comments to take you to the free ‘Anchor Installer Course (Advanced)' on MIDFIX Academy.

Trust and nurture the process. That's what an older mentor once taught me about pipe laying. He said, 'if you take care of a DN100 pipe properly, you can lay any diameter pipe.' I didn't fully understand it until I took on the biggest project of my career in 2019. We installed DN500 valves on a DN1050 water main for a flow meter installation. To put it into perspective, that's a 22 tonne excavator parked next to the valves. Now, I break down every project into smaller sections and trust the process. It's a lesson that applies to almost every aspect of life. #pipelaying #construction #trusttheprocess #water #waterindustry #pipeline #civilconstruction

Exciting Update! 🎓 Just completed my Fundamentals of Thermography Inspection Training! 🔍 I'm thrilled to announce that I've successfully completed my Thermography Inspection Training. The training was arranged by the L & D department at FPCL (FFBL Power Company Limited). This training will surely help me to ensure asset reliability and to prevent downtime by detecting potential issues at an early stage. So far, I have seen this NDT technique to monitor casing temperatures of hot cyclones in CFB boilers and rotary kiln in the cement industry. By getting a thermal image we can estimate the internal refractory condition. This is necessary because usually carbon steel is most commonly used as a casing material having a working temperature of 427°C beyond this temperature the material loses its strength. Moreover, besides vibration monitoring thermography is also used to check bearing health in machines. I'd love to hear about your experience with this technique. Please share your insights and any other industrial applications of this technique. I'd like to thank Sir Talha Umair and Sir Zulifqar Ali for arranging the training. #fpcl #inspection #mechanical #thermography

Last week I had the opportunity to present a safety moment to my colleagues here at Worley process department. It was about Double Block and Bleed (DBB) valve systems of isolation. Its a good practice to have safety moments in a regular basis as it shows the importance of safety. Not only it emphasises the significance to have a healthy work environment but also is a valuable tool to deliver or reinforce critical information. #worley #processengineering #safetyawareness #isolation
