The 5th of October is a national holiday in Portugal known as Republic Day or Commemoration of the Implementation of the Republic. It is celebrated to mark the overthrow of the Portuguese monarchy and the establishment of a republican form of government on October 5, 1910. On October 4, 1910, a planned revolution to overthrow the Portuguese monarchy and establish a republic was launched a day earlier due to a miscommunication among the conspirators. Despite the initial confusion and unpreparedness, the uprising gained momentum, and King Manuel II fled Lisbon on October 5. Portugal was then declared a republic, and João do Canto e Castro became the interim president. This anecdote highlights the spontaneous and chaotic nature of the events leading to the establishment of the Portuguese republic on what is now celebrated as Republic Day in Portugal.

What if Christianity had stayed on the Way of Jesus of Nazarene and not justified imperialism over all its centuries since, what peace might have been found among others of less intransigent faiths. And what if what if's were now what is?
