This week, the Atlanta Fed held a retirement celebration (or, as he would say, a kickoff celebration) for First Vice President Andre Anderson. Friends, family, and colleagues gathered to celebrate André’s 40 years of service to what he believes is “the most powerful public service institution in the country.” Guests reflected on André’s impact as a leader, mentor, and friend, offering deepest appreciation for all he’s done and his years of dedication. André shared stories about his time with the Bank, illustrating his journey throughout the entire Fed System from Birmingham to the Board of Governors. He shared the poem “Drinking from My Saucer” by John Paul Moore to highlight his overflowing gratitude and capped his remarks with encouragement: “My challenge to each of you is to leave it [the Fed] better than you found it.” President Raphael Bostic concluded the event by addressing André: “You said in your remarks that the one hope you had was that this place was better off than when you started. And you said history would be the judge. Well, in my view, history has already judged. It’s already done.” Congratulations to André, who begins his next chapter on August 1.
