The development team behind Centennial Yards Company plans to officially break ground this week on its next phase of construction — an 8-acre entertainment district that will rise over downtown Atlanta’s Gulch. The start of construction is not only a milestone for the huge downtown project, it will also mark a major change for people with business at downtown’s federal courthouse and for sports fans, concert-goers and attendees of other major events who are accustomed to parking in the sea of asphalt between the MARTA Five Points station and State Farm Arena. I really enjoy the double impact (value) of two Ori products maximizing the spacial flow in this room… This video shows how Ori works together to deliver big value! Watch Ori in motion!! #ori #space #value #flexspace
Thrilled to announce that Ori has joined forces with Greystar at The Commodore in Arlington! In 2020, we had the pleasure of hosting John Beinert at our Brooklyn Design Studio, sparking a creative synergy that has now evolved into this groundbreaking partnership. Three years later, it's an absolute joy to see these Expandable Studios hit the market! Working with the entire Greystar team (Patrick Lyons, Joey Bushey, Amy Foley, Tate Chambers, and others) and the John Moriarty & Associates team (Jia Rong Chong, Brad Nicolais, LEED AP) has been a breeze, and we're looking forward to the next one across the street! The city of St. Petersburg and the Rays with co-developer Hines Co. are closing in on the 20-year redevelopment of the 86-acre Historic Gas Plant District, centered around a new baseball stadium near the Tropicana Field site. Here's what you need to know about the deal: The new ballpark would go in the current stadium’s parking lot. It will seat 30,000 compared to the current 42,735. The stadium is expected to cost $1.3 billion. The city and county will each contribute $300 million, and the Rays will pay the remaining $700 million. But the stadium is only part of the $6.5 billion redevelopment of the Historic Gas Plant District. St. Petersburg will contribute another $130 million toward public infrastructure around the ballpark, which will include: - 4,800 residential units, plus 600 at affordable/ workforce prices and 600 for seniors - 1.4 million square feet of office and medical space and 750,000 square feet of retail space - 750 hotel rooms - 14,000 parking spaces, though that won’t all be available right away Read more: https://trib.al/cN5Obv6

Top thing on my mind this afternoon: I've had the opportunity to visit newer stadiums when traveling to see professional sports. I'm more of a baseball fan, where stadiums tend to be built in smaller footprints. It's more about the uniqueness of location rather than trying to build the biggest stadium. Football takes the opposite approach. US Bank Stadium, for example, is about 38 acres, compared to the 8.5 Target Field takes up. Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, is 73 acres on 140-acre site. The new stadium being built for the Buffalo Bills? That will sit on a 242-acre site and cost upwards of $1.54 billion dollars. It's also coming at a time when the Buffalo area is working on other major projects. It's a unique scenario, for sure, but one that we may feel in the construction industry over the next 5-10 years. Specifically on enough workers to go around to fill jobs needing to be completed.

INDUSTRY NEWS // Poor old Docklands has always struggled to meet expectations - quite possibly like the middle child in any family (isn’t that right, Lee Stevens 😉). But new life could be breathed into the area! Yup, did you see the news last week? There’s a bold plan to explore a major new development opportunity at Marvel Stadium and AFL - Australian Football League House. “While it remains to be seen how the project will unfold, the proposal would however be separate to state government’s $225 million investment in the redevelopment of Marvel Stadium, which was completed in 2023”. This new development would look at revitalising the waterfront and enhance Marvel as a sports and entertainment precinct. Boo-ya! And with Costco Wholesale now confirming that they will close Docklands (potentially as early as August this year) and relocate to Ardeer, the area could do with some happiness and further evolution. Of course, we love the development opportunities and growth that this may bring to our industries. Watch this space (or read more via Docklands News). Super cool renders by Grimshaw. #clearandsimple #vividrecruitment #construction #development #engineering #architecture
