Ad | Turkish designer and artist Melek Zeynep Bulut (melekzeynepstudio) has created the Open Monuments series of installations. The designer explores the dynamic between materials through the pavilions, which are informed by Bulut's work with architecture, art, design and urban spaces. The installations were designed to function as performance spaces, constantly changing how they interact with people and their environments. Heligoland by Artemide is directly inspired by this sophisticated construction principle: Carlotta de Bevilacqua's design is an ideally balanced ceiling lamp composed of compact, hexagonal elements. The power distribution of the LEDs makes a decisive contribution to the excellent energy balance: All optical cells connected to a network work together to increase the density of the luminous flux.

Great engineering to create a new 3rd millennium "Agorà" The Changzhou Culture Plaza by Gmp Architects it is truly a place with a magical atmosphere, created by creating enormous structures that envelop but do not completely close the spaces available to citizens The plaza is surrounded by a public park and, together with the Town Hall and the Changzhou Grand Theater located to the north, forms the new city center of Changzhou. The development comprises 6 identical, freestanding building modules that are angled towards each other and arranged in a 2 x 3 cluster. Each module is based on a footprint area of 70 x 70 meters and, as an autonomous unit with individual entrance and lobby, accommodates one of the functions of the Culture Plaza, such as the art museum, library, hotel, and offices. In the video you can perceive the atmosphere that is breathed in this extraordinary place, surrounded by futuristic structures, a perfect combination of architectural geometries and engineering virtuosity. Changzhou is about 200km away from Shanghai and is generally perceived as “second tier cities” but economically highly developed because of rich private enterprises. Infrastructures like this are emerging in many of such cities beyond traditional “first tier cities”, aka, bejing, shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, probably indicating the 2nd wave of urbanization in China.

The sustainable and energy-reducing wood architecture being used at the 2024 Paris Olympics is a game-changer. Modern wood buildings may not entirely match with France’s history, but their elegance and delicacy certainly do.

It's World Architecture Day! Do you know what each of those architectural elements of Tainan International Convention Center represent? King Shih Architects bureau, who designed the venue, had very specific concepts in mind to honour Taiwan's oldest city. 🐳 The "Kunsheng", the whale's back. The mythical fish, symbol of Tainan's maritime culture, is the main element of the design, both in ICC Tainan's exterior and inside. 🧱 Red bricks. Tainan City's historical sites are unique in Taiwan due to the use of the red, European bricks popular in Northern Europe when the Dutch first set foot on the island, in 1624. Both the large red brick wall in the lobby and the red color of ICC Tainan are a nod to the rich history of Taiwan's ancient capital. 🚀 Technology hub. In the past decades, Tainan has seen the development of two of the most prominent science parks of Southern Taiwan. As the city enters a new century, it is reinventing itself as a new technology hub, so new technologies and sustainability were core concept in the design of ICC Tainan. Today, the 5th of June, is World Environment Day, which aims to raise awareness on the importance of protecting our natural treasures. In architecture and design, we are committed to environmentally responsible, future-proof solutions. We strive to minimise the ecological footprint of our projects through our innovative approach and environmentally conscious use of materials, among others. We believe architecture offers the opportunity to live in harmony with nature while creating modern and comfortable living spaces.   We can give you examples too. In Etele Plaza, special attention has been given to the incorporation of timeless materials, the design of passive shading and thermal insulation systems, and the recycling of waste. In the case of the Kanizsa Arena, another one of our designs, the carbon footprint of the construction was much lower than other sports halls of similar size, at just 0.42 t/m2. Our aim is to create liveable, future-proof buildings with the least possible impact on the natural environment.
