As educators we need to find more conducive ways to educate our future nurses for the workforce they will enter. We live in a world where mental health is stigmatized especially for health professionals. As reported one in 5 U.S. nursing students (21%) are considering quitting their studies. Another study I read over 10 years ago stated 50-70% of nursing students have considered leaving their nursing education due to their educators (Clarke et. al, 2012). We must do better, what are we waiting for??? We need to support our nursing students so they begin to weave a supportive network right from day one and carry it throughout their careers. #futureofnursing #iamanurse #ANAEducationandCommunication #gutsynurse #ClinicianOfTheFuture #FutureOfHealthcare #StudentPerspectives

We all know that it is important to take care of ourselves. We tell our patients this every day, yet when it comes to taking care of our own lives, we often miss the mark. Why is that? When I asked nurses this very question, there were 10 answers that came up over and over again: - Guilt - Time - Exhaustion - Depression - Money - Knowledge - Prioritization - Motivation - Laziness - Distractions Can you identify with these? Read the exact quote in today's blog post. https://lnkd.in/eeB9ARXx

Great article to bring awareness to Imposter Syndrome in nursing! Becker's Healthcare you left something major out - COACHING can solve this problem! Yes education, mentoring, support, and promoting well-being are important, but none of these face the issue head-on like we do with coaching. Nurses (and people in general) experience Imposter Syndrome in different ways. So the solution has to be much more personal than generic information. In coaching, we get to the root of why you're experiencing Imposter Syndrome in the first place. We analyze limiting beliefs, past and present stories, expectations and where they come from, and what patterns they create in your life. And we create customized strategies to help address and reframe these beliefs, and ultimately overcome it with confidence and compassion.
Imposter Syndrome is real and the causes multi factorial. It threatens the ability for a clinician to practice confidently and achieve success, which has direct implications for patient outcomes. What does your organization do, or what do/did you do, to overcome this mindset? https://lnkd.in/gCCXGF6a
