Our fitness is a combination of physical and mental well-being, and it's high time that we are mindful of not overdoing it on the physical side because we are under the influence. Listening to your body needs to be taught, and as simple as it sounds, it's not. When you lift weights, you are building strength, and that journey always involves your body resisting and you passing through the resistance. But do you have the right understanding of when you switch from resistance to over-resistance? I have closely witnessed how most coaches in India focus on visual images to understand your fitness progress. You must have also taken a picture of yourself and shared it with your coach over weeks. There's nothing wrong with that, but please take a snapshot of your inside as well while you are transforming externally. Sometimes, sleep is more important; laughing and being with loved ones is more important because your mental wellness is an addition to your overall wellness. https://lnkd.in/dYb9rg3i

I Train Business Owners To Use All Three Of Their Brains To Build Mental Fitness 🧠 | Encode Powerful New Habits💪🏻 | Perform And Feel At Your Best And Thrive During Uncertain Times
Build your mental fitness by doing your daily reps! We build our muscles by doing sets of reps in the gym, and we can also develop our mental fitness by taking similar actions. The daily reps we teach in our new 8-week programme (3BT Mental Fitness Training) are short pattern disruptions that aim to break the old cycle of thoughts, emotions and behaviours. A few years ago, Scientific American published a study showing that the average person has between 40,000 and 60,000 thoughts a day and that 95% of those thoughts are exactly the same from day to day. Think about that. We're all living on autopilot, thinking, feeling and acting the same way, day after day. To paraphrase the old adage - "If you think what you've always thought, you'll get what you've always got". There are a couple of ways to break these patterns, and we teach several ways to do this in the programme, but one of the best ways to start is to use micro interruptions (of just 30 seconds) during the day to interrupt these familiar patterns. When you catch yourself ruminating, worrying, or catastrophising, bring your awareness away from your thinking and into your other senses. Here's a short list (we have bundles more than this in our programme!): ➡ Look around you and take in the environment, let your eyes be curious! ➡ Listen for sounds close by and far away, what's the furthest sound you can hear? ➡ Bring your awareness into your body, concentrate on any contact points you are making with the floor/ chair etc ➡ Do a couple of rounds of box-breathing Do this for 30 seconds to a minute, and you'll start to move away from these old patterns and slowly begin to grow new neural pathways. As new pathways grow, old pathways die away (it's called neural pruning), and it's not long before you start to notice the changes. People in our programmes often notice some changes within just a couple of weeks. Benefits include reduced stress, more energy, a sense of calm and feeling more present and grounded. Why not give it a try? ---------- If you want more help, why not join our Three Brain Training (3BT) Mental Fitness Programme? Simply DM me "Three Brains," and we'll jump on a call to see whether you'd be a good fit.

Mental Fitness: Are phones turning our brains to mush? After about a 20 year hiatus, I’m back in the gym trying to regain some strength lost over the years. Yeah I’m the old guy lifting the light weights, no tattoos, and am grumpy because I’m perpetually sore. Jokes aside, I simply can’t believe what’s happened to modern gym culture. With rare exception, everyone works out with their phone. Or to be more accurate, everyone barely works out while they sit on machines doing nothing, glued to their phones. Recently some guy jumped in front of me to use a cable machine, but then decided to send a text first, before exercising, while I waited. What the heck?? Another time I inadvertently saw someone’s screen while they were between sets (?) on a sit up machine, and saw nothing but dizzying, rapid fire images and videos as fast as their thumb could go. Others insulate themselves with headphones and never look up, as if their life depended on responding to every text they get within seconds, and as if the workout was incidental to the phone activities. It’s almost as if gyms in the traditional sense no longer exist. They’ve instead become social media lounges, playing loud, old school acid rock, while people rot their brains out in a sea of loneliness. It makes me wonder if folks don’t put their phones down to exercise, when do they put them down? I know, no pain, no gain. I just didn’t expect the pain to be more cultural than physical. And at my age, that’s saying a lot.

Award Winning Online Fitness Coach & Author | On A Mission to Empower 500 Men and Women Over-30 To Shed 10,000 Pounds in 2024
Starting an exercise routine can be daunting. Here’s a step-by-step guide: 1. Set Clear Goals: Know what you want to achieve. Do you want to lose weight, build muscle, increase endurance, or just feel healthier? Having a clear vision helps you stay focused and motivated. 2. Start Small: Begin with short, manageable workouts. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is a fit body. Start with 10-15 minutes a day and gradually increase your workout time as your fitness improves. 3. Mix It Up: Incorporate different types of exercise. Variety keeps your workouts interesting and works different muscle groups. Combine cardio, strength training, flexibility exercises, and fun activities like dancing or sports. 4. Stay Consistent: Make it a daily habit. Consistency is key to seeing results. Find a time that works best for you, whether it's early morning, during lunch, or after work, and stick to it. 5. Track Progress: Celebrate your wins. Keep a journal or use a fitness app to record your workouts and progress. Celebrate milestones, no matter how small, to stay motivated and acknowledge your hard work. Feeling inspired but need more support? Join our free Peak Performers Hub community! Fitness Coach (14 years) & Leadership Development Director, Apex Transform | Proven pathways to grow healthier leaders ready for any life challenge.
7 ways to transform your health, fitness, & body. Start taking steps in the right direction by: 1. Start on the inside: Health and fitness aren't just about the external. It starts from within. If you're a Christian, prayer can help guide you through challenges and towards your goals. 2. Making small adjustments: Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to achieve fitness goals overnight. Just as building wealth takes time, so does improving your health. Focus on small, consistent changes that lead you toward your long-term goals. 3. Starting a workout routine: Whether it's 15 minutes, three times a week, or a daily walk, setting aside dedicated time for physical activity is crucial. Consider hiring a trainer or joining a fitness class to stay motivated and accountable. 4. Improving your diet: It's okay to enjoy treats in moderation, but excessive indulgence can hinder progress. Practice saying no to sugary foods and carbs occasionally to build discipline over time. 5. Believing in yourself: Past failures don't define your future success. Embrace setbacks as part of the journey and commit to getting back on track whenever you falter. 6. Get back on track: Everyone slips up occasionally. When you do, don't let it derail your progress. Resume your plan immediately without dwelling on setbacks. 7. Building a supportive community: Surround yourself with people who support your goals. Whether it's a coach, gym buddies, or an online group, accountability and encouragement can make a significant difference in your journey. By implementing these steps, you can begin transforming your health and fitness gradually and sustainably. Remember, consistency and perseverance are key to achieving lasting results. _ Repost if this connected with you and follow Christopher May for more!
