This afternoon, we had the pleasure of engaging in a stimulating initial brainstorming on the vital concept of nature-as-infrastructure, facilitated by our Senior Strategy and Policy Officer for Sustainable Cities Yuan Xiao 肖媛. We were joined by experts from the recently established Nature-Based Solutions Asia Centre (Ministry of Natural Resources), IUCN China, and Turenscape Design (Peking University). Recognising nature as an integral component of #infrastructure and #sustainablecities is a passionate topic, indispensable to our efforts against #climatechange, and a challenge, as we strive to highlight the value of #biodiversity and the need to finance projects that target #naturepositive outcomes. The Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Asia Center aims to explore the application of nature-based solutions in projects and champion best practices, trying to bridge the world of research and innovation to the realities on the ground. Collaborating with governments, researchers, and institutions, they are dedicated to realizing a vision of a future where nature and people coexist harmoniously. This aligns with AIIB's commitment to understanding how to best finance sustainable infrastructure for tomorrow, fully aligned with the Paris Agreement.
