"Some of us can afford to support some part of the vast network of charities that of one our former presidents called 'a thousand points of light.' Those points of light are best seen, like stars at dusk, against a darkening sky." - Timothy Snyder, On Tyranny Being on LinkedIn, we are the ones who "can afford" even a small gift to benefit our most vulnerable neighbors. One of those thousand points of light is HumanKind, a non-profit serving the state of Virginia that believes community well-being starts with a solid foundation for EVERYONE. As you think about your year-end giving, please consider even just a $35 gift to support our First Night Backpack program for children transitioning into Foster Care. When kids are removed from a home, they often only have a few moments to throw a few things into a trash bag. They arrive to a new home with possibly not a single personal item. Take a moment to really let that sink in. Your gift would help a kid to transition into safety during such a tumultuous and confusing time. Being able to have a few essentials and the ability to carry them in an overnight bag, allows them a sense of ownership and dignity that they may not otherwise have during this time of instability. Your gift will also be DOUBLED due to a matching sponsor if you give by 12/31! Double your impact FOR A CHILD today. https://lnkd.in/e4eCHTh3

It's GivingTuesday 2023! Will you give today to impact even more children in Mexico with us? As always, 100% of your gift to Casa Esperanza Para Niños directly helps children in need. #givingtuesday2023 #generosity #adoption #niños #donate #family #esperanza #love #mexico https://lnkd.in/grF3e3CF Many companies allow you to sponsor a child for less than $1 per day, while Casa costs are almost 10 times that. Why? Casa cannot be compared to these other organizations as we do not just provide a meal and books to the child, we are providing a loving home and everything that comes with it. The total cost is $280 per child each month to provide for their needs. For ten dollars per day Casa provides parents, a home, utilities, food, clothing, medical care, and a strong spiritual and educational environment! All the children have daily chores and responsibilities that teach them the value of being part of a family unit and learning necessary skills for their future.

Spreading Threads Clothing Bank is one of 51 nonprofit organizations to have been awarded a 2023 CORE Grant by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) to the tune of $30,000. “This is a huge grant for Spreading Threads Clothing Bank and we can’t thank the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona enough for including us as one of this year’s grant recipients,” said Michele Wright, Co-Founder and Executive Director for Spreading Threads Clothing Bank. “This grant provides us with $30,000 in flexible working capital to allow us to expand our impact on foster children, adoptive children, and children living in kinship placement as well as the families supporting them. Right now, with the cost of living increases and inflation, many families need all of the assistance they can get and this grant from CFSA will help us to fill that need even better than before.” The CFSA announced in May 2023 that it awarded a total of $1,225,000 in general operating grants to nonprofits that are working to positively impact and improve the quality of life for those living in Southern Arizona. This is the largest grant round in CFSA’s 43-year history. 📣 CALLING ALL CHANGE MAKERS 📣 William Ury's book Possible introduces us to the third side. Our community 🌍 needs you 👉 to be the third side. TLP’s mission is safeguarding childhoods through fostering family connections. The best predictor of whether children fare well during and following parental separation is the duration and degree of conflict. Conflict is natural and inevitable, but combat is optional. 47% of Kansas families with children struggled to pay their regular household expenses last week, family divide only causes further financial strain on families. The families who need our services the most can’t afford them, and as a result have no true access to justice and are unable to reach their highest potential, resulting in the cycle of intergenerational trauma. The Layne Project needs your help to transform the way families in transition deal with conflict, and expand our reach to all families in need. Presently, we are acting under our fiscal sponsor, Kansas Alliance for Nonprofits to give us the ability to apply for funding, and to accept donations in order to offer individual grants and scholarships to families in need. Kansas Alliance for Non-Profits (KAN) is a 501(c)(3). However, The Layne Project must transform to a 501(c)(3) to achieve our mission. In order for us to continue to serve our communities families and expand our reach this must happen with urgency. Any contribution, direction or insight would be greatly appreciated. Donations are increadibly helpful, but equally as helpful would be time and knowledge and willingness to volunteer to be on our board. Donations can be made on our website, www.thelayneproject.com. If you want to help or can share knowledge that will help us move swiftly in this direction, please message me. #possible #williamury #thirdside #thelayneproject #safeguardingchildhoods #coparenting

Exciting news in the philanthropy world! Renowned entrepreneur Dick Smith has made a generous commitment to donate his $300 energy rebate announced in the Federal Budget this week to the Salvation Army, urging fellow millionaires to follow suit. Dick Smith's message is clear and inspiring: "Not all of us need that money. There are millions of Australians that are doing OK. Donate the money to an important charity and that means the money won't be wasted." In a time where every little bit helps, this gesture of kindness demonstrates a powerful way to make a significant impact. This act of generosity can serve as a reminder of the impact we can have when we redirect resources to where they are most needed. So many Australian families, including kinship and foster care households face significant financial challenges daily. For carers, additional financial support really does go a long way, grants for the purchase of items for the children and young people in their care can mean the world, especially when the cost of living is so high. Through our fundraising at OzChild we can help with the costs of tutoring, counselling, car seats, and even prescription glasses for kids – practical items that make caring a little bit easier. But we can’t do that alone. No not-for-profit organisation can, we rely on the generosity of others to make it possible for us to help lighten the load for families. Let’s join forces to make a difference! I encourage everyone who can, to consider this impactful choice. Whether it’s a donation to the Salvation Army, OzChild or another charity close to your heart, let’s turn our rebates into a collective effort for good. #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #GivingBack #CommunitySupport
