The next INED Forum will be an in-person event on Tuesday 10 September. "Harnessing the Power of Data and AI - what Boards Need to Know Now"   There are increased expectations of Boards to enhance their knowledge and oversight of AI and Advanced Data Analytics. Shareholders require value creation opportunities to be captured whilst regulators need assurance that there are appropriate controls in place to mitigate risk. There is a fundamental link to data in achieving these goals which goes beyond the remit of the Technology function and Boards need to recognise the cultural disciplines to be championed, the risks to be addressed and the investments required for this journey.   Insurers need to demonstrate control and implement AI safely and traceably to provide clarity and auditability of how AI has contributed to customer outcomes. There is a growing divide measured in revenue growth, underwriting performance, expense efficiency and customer satisfaction between those who are embracing technology and implementing it well, and those who are failing to do so. For these reasons, Data and AI need to be part of every Board's agenda.   Speakers from Forvis Mazars and industry practitioners (further speakers to be confirmed) will address these issues in the Forum. A really great discussion at #sasinnovateontour on governance around AI and the moves a foot within the USA, Europe, and the U.K. to ensure responsible use. Really enjoyable roundtable discussions yesterday supporting the Verisk Specialty Business Solutions #supercharging #underwriting event. Always good to hear the perspective from Christopher Spencer, Paul Willoughby and Hélène Stanway including.... 👉 Opportunities exist to do more with "bad risks" by delivering appropriate #riskmitigation & #riskengineering strategies. You can turn them into better risks through appropriate #productselection or #bundling but this requires a #unifiedview of data across traditional and non-traditional data sets. 👉 Opportunities exist to #streamline large accounts and global corporates where, too often, a carrier is 'bidding against itself". This is due to a lack of portfolio knowledge especially at #renewal stage that also impacts #crosssell. 👉 Lower barriers to entry for #AI is great, but used on limited or badly understood data with limited #contex is something carriers need to be very careful with. And always a pleasure catching up with good friend Areefih Ghaith 🤩
