The traction that this tour has generated is just a reflection of the broader societal significance of the event industry. Beyond immediate economic benefits, these mega events enhance the mood and unity of communities, and that alone can explain the need for a commitment to protect the viability of the event industry. The commitment extends to mitigating a range of risks, including those posed by climate change and severe weather events, which threaten the sustainability of the event industry. The proactive stance of the industry, supported by research, should aim to safeguard these events and ensure their continuation for future generations. This includes the need for continued investment in safety measures and sustainability practices within the event industry. The challenge of climate change, in particular, appears to be an aggravating one and necessitates a concerted effort to adapt and innovate, ensuring that the industry can withstand these risks without letting the climate impact becoming an existential threat. While this particular tour has been, this far, a resounding success for Australian event industry so far, the cancellation and discontinuation of some other smaller local events and festivals is room for concern and warrants attention, especially for Australian cities that are considered world capitals for major and record-breaking events.
