As our work continues on California High-Speed Rail Authority’s initial 171-mile segment in the Central Valley, we are thrilled to share the latest renderings for the stations in Merced, Fresno, Kings Tulare, and Bakersfield. Working collaboratively in a Joint Venture with Foster Partners, the project team recently engaged in a series of public ‘open house’ sessions with local communities, businesses, agencies, and other key stakeholders, which will inform the development of the station designs. The JV is overseeing the architecture and engineering for these new Central Valley stations, which will serve as models of design for others planned along the entire 500-mile Los Angeles/Anaheim to San Francisco system. That’s great Arup. I saw your models on display at the High-Speed Rail Board Meeting on February 29, 2024 at Cal Expo. They are very impressive. As far as the areas around the stations are concerned, think TOD www.tod.org.

Impressive work by Arup and Foster Partners! Engaging with local communities and stakeholders through public open house sessions is essential for identifying and mitigating potential risks early on. These new stations in Merced, Fresno, Kings Tulare, and Bakersfield will not only enhance connectivity but also set a benchmark for risk-informed design in high-speed rail infrastructure. Looking forward to seeing how proactive risk management drives the success of the California High-Speed Rail project! #RiskManagement #SustainableInfrastructure #HighSpeedRail

It looks amazing! Congratulations on the renderings.

Looks great team Arup, but why not place some solar panels on top and sides to generate power and also keep the passenger area cooler? Also due to passage of high speed express trains in the middle tracks and the turbulence they create inside the station, small wind turbines can produce additional power! They can be added above and to the side walls In the Central Valley there could also be super dense fog conditions, visibility of few feet at best, what sort of floor lighting and protection / gated barriers are there for passemgers, prior to boarding the train?

This is fantastic news! The collaboration with Foster Partners and the engagement with local communities truly highlight the commitment to creating stations that reflect the needs and character of the Central Valley. I’m excited to see how these designs will set the standard for the entire high-speed rail system. How has the feedback from the public sessions influenced the design process so far? #InnovationInTransit #CommunityEngagement

Ok City of Merced I see you on here. If the real life construction meets the rendering, this will be a place to visit. Will there be a connection from the station to UC Merced?

Much needed! Way to go! Very elegant looking station too, very minimalist and repeatable geometry, not unnecessarily crazy. Why doe we need so much headroom though?

It is great to see these renderings be released. However, I did not hear of the open house in Bakersfield. Perhaps you can reach out to Kern Council of Governments or other agencies that could bring in other city stakeholders to provide input on this significant regional transit project. Thanks.
