Odyssey’s 2022 Clinical Outcomes Report and Key Findings for Mental Health and Addiction, including Silver Pines, is now available online! Our network uses BASIS-24 to identify a wide range of symptoms across the diagnostic spectrum. Using a five-point Likert scale, the 24 questions are scored using a weighted average algorithm that gives an overall score and scores for six subscales that cover the following domains: depression, relationships, self-harm, emotional liability, psychosis, and substance abuse. The questionnaire was administered at admission, mid-treatment, or every 30 days, and again at discharge. Learn more and download a PDF version online here: https://hubs.li/Q02004710

Drug Addiction is a serious problem and should be dealt with collectively. Last year, a meeting was held with Supritendent of Police Madam R.K. Sohi ji under guidance of Prof (Dr) Ashita Chadha to organise a weekly camp in nearby areas so that this drug abuse can be checked with a collective social effort. The drug de-addiction awareness camp aims to address the complex issue of substance abuse through a comprehensive and community-oriented approach. Focused on education, the camp features expert presentations elucidating the science of addiction, supplemented by personal success stories to inspire attendees. Interactive workshops equip individuals with practical coping skills, while resource booths provide information on local rehabilitation centers and support networks. Professional guidance and confidential consultations with mental health experts foster a supportive environment. Community involvement is encouraged, leveraging the influence of leaders and institutions. The camp also emphasizes a holistic lifestyle, promoting physical and mental well-being as preventive measures. Participants are provided with follow-up resources for ongoing support and education. Through this multifaceted strategy, the camp strives to raise awareness, dispel myths, and empower individuals and the community to combat drug addiction. Addiction Recovery Consultant | I help organisations to design, deliver and evaluate addiction and mental health treatment services | PhD Candidate Psychology
Evaluating the effectiveness of addiction treatment programmes can sometimes be a bit like the joke about the man who is looking under a lamppost for a key that he has lost on the other side of the street, because that’s where the light is. Organisations need to become far more rigorous in their approach to evidence the effectiveness and impact of their programmes and interventions. I want to share with you the evaluation framework that I developed over the last 10 years to addiction treatment organisations to learn and improve the true scale of the effectiveness of their programmes. Swipe through the carousel to explore how the 8 Building Blocks of the EVALUATE framework can elevate your programmes and set new standards for excellence. Are you an Extension professional working with communities that are struggling with addiction? Are you tired of working in silos? Taking Action Against Substance Use in Communities (TASC) is a new curriculum designed to give Extension educators the tools to effectively guide their community coalitions by visually mapping their recovery system of care (ROSC) and leveraging existing community assets to improve substance use disorder outcomes. TASC is not intended to replace existing coalitions; instead, it is a research-based approach focusing on the coalition's work and increasing the group's collective impact. Extension has a role in helping communities develop effective responses to substance use in their communities. But learning the landscape of addiction, response, and recovery is daunting. Extension professionals can use the Taking Action Against Substance Use in Communities (TASC) program to prepare for this work and facilitate the community's planning process. The Extension professional facilitates the process, with the goal of building capacity among community stakeholders who will sustain the work. The project materials include a reference handbook and a facilitator's guide. Be a leader in the effort to tackle substance use disorders! Please join us! Learn more: https://bit.ly/497Rer0
