HIF Global choses Technit to carry out the engineer of its first e-fuel plant in Chile.
The plant called Cabo Negro, started its Environmental Assessment process a few months ago and will have the capacity to produce up to 173.600 tons per year of e-methanol and up to 70.000 tons per year of e-fuels. It will be located in Punta Arenas, Magallanes region and will be fed with renewable energy from the future wind park Faro del Sur.
Víctor Turpaud, regional manager for HIF Global said that “production of Haru Oni shows that neutral carbon fuels are a reality as a replacement source for fossil fuels, allowing to decarbonize cars, trucks, ships and airplanes. Now, working together with Techint, we are moving forward towards escalating production, and Technit, with its experience in the development of projects in South America, will add value to our work.
Meanwhile, the president of the Andean region of Technit, Claudio Perillo, indicated that “this project is not simply about the design of an e-Fuels installation. It is a turning point worldwide and positions Chile at the forefront of sustainable energies. We are delighted to support HIF on this journey with all our experience, knowledge and capabilities both locally and globally. These types of projects are the starting point for the development of the energy transition in Latin America and confirm that we are going in the right direction within our long-term strategy as an Engineering and Construction company.
