Flying back from my 1st INBOUND and what can I say, it was a great one. A few favorite moments: 1) Sharing the stage with AJ Bruno from QuotaPath to an audience of 600 about leading effective pipeline reviews that convert to revenue. A number of people came up to say it was their favorite session from the week (?!) Beyond the impact, the energy and ease was top notch. Just another reminder how fantastic AJ and QuotaPath team ( Graham D. Collins Kelly O’Halloran and Ryan Milligan) are. I'm so honored to be an advisor 2) Getting to have lunch with Women in Tech for Harris members like Jen Spencer and Lindsay Tjepkema 3) Seeing Kara Swisher and Serena Williams chat about the space of female investing. Took many notes for the panel I'll be facilitating on Becoming an Investor at Pavilion Women's Summit in a month! 4) Meeting so many LinkedIn legends IRL like Lori Richardson and Leslie Venetz John Barrows and of course getting to give Daniel Cmejla a big ol hug 5) Crashing a GTM Fund dinner (thanks Alexa Grabell and Sophie Buonassisi for making it happen) and getting to meet Paul Irving and Vaibhavi Nesarikar, CPA, MBA! In the end, it's all about the people and the connection.

Very much looking forward to contributing to the upcoming Impact Boards EM event on supporting Non-Executive Directors secure board roles in emerging market companies. Over the years, Board Excellence have been privileged to support a wide range of emerging market company boards through board evaluations, training and advisory services on board composition and diversity. While in many respects the core attributes of a strong Non-Executive Director are common across the world, there are some unique nuances in emerging market company boards that are important for prospective Non-Executive Directors to understand and integrate into their approach to both securing these board roles and thriving when they join the board.
🗓 On 15th February 2024 at 15:00 UK time, Impact Boards EM's Co-Founder and Co-Chair Olga Pascault will moderate an online panel on "How to start your Journey as a Board member in Emerging Markets". Olga will be joined by an excellent panel of #boardgovernance specialists - NED Rinat Abdrasilov, recruitment consultants Mike Clancy and Jess Stockford, and board advisor Kieran Moynihan - who will share their knowledge and expertise on the subject. They will discuss the most significant challenges faced by #boarddirectors and #executives in their recruitment journey and potential solutions to tackle them. Join us for this interactive and members-only conversation where we will delve into these topics in greater detail. We had four incredibly rich framing conversations last week to hone our strategic focus over the rest of Convergence. While it is too early in the conversation for any tangible actions to emerge, the 90 participants who dialled in over two time zones did ask some very good questions. We're sharing them here in recognition of the fact that there are no easy answers in #systemschange, but better questions can provide a guiding light to illuminate the path ahead. #allthingsystems #innovativefinance #impactinvesting #genderlensinvesting #sustainablesolutions #Inclusivegrowth #collaborativeInnovation

If you are an experienced executive focusing on #emergingmarkets Markets, sharing your #expertise with the EM companies that need your skills and perspective would be a logical step. However, this transition journey is not easy for most professionals, and the success rate of becoming a #board #director is lower than many people might think. Nevertheless, in our discussion“ How to start your journey as a board member in Emerging Markets”, Jess Stockford, Rinat Abdrasilov, Mike Clancy, and Kieran Moynihan will discuss the most significant challenges and how to tackle them with industry experts and experienced EM board members. Please see below the questions that we will address during our discussion. We will talk about: 1) Where and how do you start the transition journey? 2) Where and how do you find the first board role in emerging markets? 3) Networking, networking and networking, but the challenge is that geographically Emerging Markets are widely spread. Most shareholders stay in the region, while non-executive directors are outside the target countries. 4) Which avenues to explore? I look forward to sharing my experience as a board member and engaging in exciting discussions with #corporategovernance experts.

I went to You Flourish’s 2024 Women’s Goal Setting Summit and here’s how I killed it! Women’s conferences have an electric atmosphere- ambitious women, new people, and exciting opportunities to grow. As an achiever myself, here’s what I took away from the day. Make connections! Step away from your table and go network with other thought leaders. Be prepared to leave an impression. By the end of the day, I had made coffee dates to move two of my big dreams along. Be Courageous! Every time you do something courageous, you open yourself up to potential failure. It doesn’t matter if you succeed or not because you are building stamina and momentum. Make big hairy audacious goals and chase them down. Progress over perfection. Self Advocacy! Invite others to help achieve your dream. When you self-advocate, you have to make sure your pitch is impactful and memorable. Embody confidence and know your worth. Rule #1: I won’t make myself small. You Flourish provided the time and space to collaborate with other FM women and dream big. Excited to see how my big three dreams move along in 2024. Stay tuned! Thanks Kelsey Joy Buell Grace Lange and You Flourish.

Wonderful NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors) Capital Chapter event this evening, “Hot Topics for the Upcoming 2024 Proxy Season.” While the session primarily was aimed at public companies, many of the topics apply to other private or nonprofit companies as well, such as: ▶️ Despite the noise of the “anti-ESG movement” happening right now, companies need to keep consistent focus on delivering value and making money the right way. ▶️ Align ESG activities and goals directly with the company’s core strategy, and make sure your metrics are meaningful. Consider not labeling these efforts “ESG” since you would be doing them anyway, regardless of the label attached to them. ▶️ Artificial intelligence continues to be a huge topic—it is about both oversight of risk, and an area of opportunity to find new value. And it is always great meeting new folks like Dorothy Hildebrandt, Thomas Hampton, and Lisa Egbuonu-Davis, MD, MPH, MBA! #boardsofdirectors
