𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🌍 At Teledyne Marine, we recognize the critical role hydrographic information plays in enhancing safety, efficiency, and sustainability in marine activities every day. However, today, on World Hydrography Day, we celebrate this even more. Data is key when making informed decisions—whether it’s surveying subsea constructions, mapping artificial reefs, or protecting and restoring precious ecosystems. From surface to seabed, our advanced marine technologies, such as sonars, enable us to explore and map underwater wonders, enriching our knowledge and safeguarding marine environments. Here’s to World Hydrography Day and the invaluable insights it brings! 🙌 ... and remember right now you can participate in the Teledyne Marine Photo and Data Contest, so share your best data - we would love to see it. World Hydrography Day! Today (June 21st) we celebrate Hydrography. Hydro Energy Group loves it. The day itself was established by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) to increase public awareness about the importance of hydrography, the science that measures and describes the physical features of bodies of water and the adjacent land areas. Hydrography plays a crucial role in various fields, including maritime navigation, environmental protection, marine resource management, and coastal development. Importance of Hydrography. Maritime Safety - Ensuring safe navigation by providing accurate charts and data for ships. Environmental Protection - Monitoring and managing marine and coastal environments. Marine Resource Management - Facilitating sustainable use of marine resources. Coastal Development - Supporting infrastructure development and planning in coastal regions. Disaster Management: Assisting in the preparation and response to natural disasters like tsunamis and hurricanes. This photo is a little snap of taken on Chris Girdlestone's commute to work and shows our Plymouth Office, but is relevant as it includes a body of water, which is arguably one of most surveyed parts of the world from a Hydrographic Survey Perspective. That may be Plymouth folklore speaking so take it with a pinch of salt. 2024 Theme Each year, World Hydrography Day has a specific theme to highlight different aspects of hydrography. The theme for 2024 is.... "Hydrographic Information - Enhancing Safety, Efficiency and Sustainability in Marine Activities" focusing on how hydrographic data supports sustainable economic activities related to oceans and waterways. By highlighting the significance of hydrography, World Hydrography Day aims to foster greater understanding and appreciation of this essential science, promoting safer and more sustainable interactions with our planet's waters. #HelloHydro #WorldHydrographyDay #HydrographicSurvey

✨OPEN ACCESS✨ Deformed Latest Pleistocene Fluvial Terraces Reveal Complex Active Faulting within Tectonic Transition Zone, Mendocino Triple Junction, Northern California #TSR In Northern California, the San Andreas fault system transitions to the Cascadia subduction zone at the Mendocino Triple Junction — a broad zone of complex deformation. As a result, there are discrepancies between geologic structures and recorded velocity vectors. In other words, satellites indicate movement in a particular directions, but that current motion may not jive with the types of faults that record past movements (e.g., transform vs. thrust faults). In a new paper, scientists from Cal Poly Humboldt and Pacific Watershed Associates focus on a possible subsidiary fault of the Little Salmon fault system, which is one of the southernmost active thrust faults within the onshore part of the Cascadia subduction zone. This secondary fault, the Van Duzen fault, deforms young river terraces of varying age. Based on geomorphic and paleoseismic analysis, the team hypothesizes that the transition between San Andreas to Cascadia manifests — geologically speaking — via orientation of compressional structures like the Van Duzen fault. https://lnkd.in/gRVDntDg

Geo Logica is thrilled to be organizing one of the #ConjugateMarginsConference2024 field trips entitle: Structural Aspects of West Iberian Margin Magmatic Rocks: Relevance for Hydrocarbons, Natural H2 and CCUS. The #fieldtrip will take place between 25th and 26th of May 2024 along Cascais and Sintra coastal area (Lisbon, #Portugal). The main objective is to highlight the complexity and problematics of interpreting magmatic-related structures on different datasets and scales (#outcrops vs #seismic), while understanding the implications of magmatism in the regional and local structural framework, #hydrocarbon maturation, reservoir properties distribution, trap creation and/or destruction and generation of natural #hydrogen accumulation and #CO2 sequestration and mineralization. The main topics covered are: - Regional context of West Iberian Margin; - Structural styles associated with #magmatic rocks (intrusive and extrusive); - Magmatic rocks and contact #metamorphism; - #Sourcerock maturation associated with magmatic rocks; - #Reservoir properties variations associated with magmatic rocks; - General concepts of natural #H2 accumulations; - Magmatic rocks and #CCUS. Geo short notes📝 WHAT IS GEODYNAMIC PROCESSES? There are various types, sizes, and speeds of mass movements caused by geodynamic processes that influence the earth's surface. The most common and extensive form of mass movement is known as slope movement, which is caused by soil and rock masses being moved down slope due to gravity. Because subsidence is linked to particular materials and situations, it occurs less frequently. The force of gravity and the progressive weakening of geological materials, mainly due to weathering, together with the action of other natural and environmental phenomena, make mass movements relatively common in the earth’s surface. Introducing the VibroScan® in action! 🚀 Since 2016, the Nomad 65 Neo from Sercel, is already in full use for the iC VibroScan® method. With a total mass of 34 tonnes, it is more than twice as heavy as our previous vibration generator. Its vibration excitation force is a remarkable 277 kN, almost four times that of our previous model, and it has an extended frequency range of 5-250 Hz, which is significantly higher than the 8-120 Hz of the old device. The VibroScan® has already proven itself in projects such as the Koralm railway and the 2TDK in Slovenia and is ready for use throughout Europe. 💡 What does the VibroScan® actually do? The VibroScan® method enables precise vibration and/or re-radiated noise predictions and targeted countermeasures. The method, which is indispensable in railway construction and structural dynamics, simulates vibrations with a hydraulic vibration generator in order to reproduce the real disturbances as accurately as possible. The VibroScan® models vibrations in a wide frequency band and thus offers precise predictions in geology and structural dynamics. Stay tuned for the latest projects using the VibroScan®! #iCconsulenten #iCgroup #iCthechange #infrastructure #geology #geotechnics #vibroscan #vibrationgenerator #vibrationprotection
