It was an honor to participate today in a roundtable with Director General of the European Commission DG Energy - Ms. Ditte Juul Jørgensen - to discuss current challenges and initiatives to secure, scale, and accelerate the transition of EU and US to clean energies. The relevance across both public and private sectors should be noted as responsible companies steadily focus on meeting the Paris Agreement. #nortal #thefuturedeliveredseamlessly

📣 🆕 During the European Council meeting on 27-28 June 2024, the EU’s 27 heads of state and government adopted their views on the Union’s Strategic Agenda for 2024-2029. “SolarPower Europe welcomes the Council’s perspective on the EU Strategic Agenda for 2024-2029 which reflects the multifaceted challenges of our time with respect to democracy, security and competitiveness. The #solar sector is in a pole-position to deliver on each of these strategic objectives as solar PV is the most inclusive, secure and low-cost energy source for Europe. It is particularly positive to see the emphasis on ambitious #electrification, the development of grids, and enhanced #storage capabilities. At the same time, we urge EU leaders to provide a clearer and stronger commitment to delivering the European Green Deal. This must be reaffirmed as a top priority in the EU's strategic agenda, including by re-appointing a dedicated Executive Vice-President for the EU Green Deal." - Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO, SolarPower Europe Read our full statement below to learn more 👇 https://lnkd.in/deFYMpqa

The Australian Government is seeking feedback until 31 January 2024 on a consultation paper to inform the design and delivery of Australia’s First Nations Clean Energy Strategy. The Strategy aims to identify opportunities for First Nations people to lead and benefit from the clean energy transition – and deliver a framework for priority outcomes and actions. It will support self-determined aspirations and stimulate investment, cooperation, and enduring benefits across the government, non-government, and industry sectors. We welcome this initiative and see it as an important framework for the hydrogen industry to ensure meaningful collaboration and shared benefits for First Nations people. ⏳In over a month’s time, regional, federal, and European elections will be held in Belgium. 💡In light of this, Elia Transmission Belgium’s #memorandum aims to support politicians as they shape their energy policy. 📃The document covers four key themes that ETB recommends policymakers address as a matter of urgency👇: ⚡Energy compass 2050: Guiding Belgium towards a carbon-neutral economy and society; 📉Access to carbon-neutral energy and competitive prices through the timely development of the high-voltage grid; 🌏Making it easier for everyone to get involved to ensure a more affordable energy transition; 🚀Ensuring Belgium’s digital independence. We will be exploring each of these themes in turn over the course of this week. #Interconnectors for #GreenTransition European Environment Agency has published a report "Rapid growth in renewables calls for greater cooperation among Member States to double flexibility in the EU power system" 👉 Quote: "Enhanced electricity interconnection is key. More grids should be built across borders and the existing grid capacity used better. Interconnectors facilitate the efficient flow of electricity across borders to where it is most needed. Existing and planned interconnectors facilitate flexibility to be shared across border and in 2030 could reduce the need for power supply by an amount equivalent to the electricity consumption (in 2022) of Sweden." We know it very well. AQUIND alone could be saving a million tonnes of CO2 a year (the equivalent of emissions from almost 600,000 fossil-fuelled cars). "The Commission estimates that €584 billion in new investments will be required to upgrade Europe’s grids before 2030. Action cannot come soon enough, as electricity demand is expected to grow by 60% by the end of the decade, which the current grid can’t support." #cleanenergytransition #cop28 #emobility
💪🔌 Exciting news: Today, the European Commission unveiled the EU Action Plan for #Grids. The EU is putting grids at the heart of its energy policy agenda, calling them the "missing link." 📢📢 The Commission estimates that €584 billion in new investments will be required to upgrade Europe’s grids before 2030. Action cannot come soon enough, as electricity demand is expected to grow by 60% by the end of the decade, which the current grid can’t support. 🆕 The 14 proposed actions address many requests from our #ElectrificationManifesto. We call on the upcoming Belgian Commission Presidency to ensure a proper endorsement of the Action Plan. We repeat our call for an #ElectrificationAct within the first 100 days of the incoming Commission. And we urge EU countries to swiftly implement the proposed actions to bring electricity grids up to speed with the energy transition.
