Today, it’s back to work for me! After 3 weeks of vacation, I’m ready to pick up again where I left off beginning of July. And to be honest, I’m looking forward to see what the 2nd half of 2024 has in store for me. No sad face here on the first day back 😊 (although I do have a craving for ice cream at this moment 🍦) Most of you will know me from a long career in talent acquisition. It has been the core of my professional life, and still is an important part of what I do. The life of a recruiter keeps evolving, and I get to meet new people every day. This is what still makes it interesting to me. Next to talent acquisition, I’m also the go-to person in #delaware Belux for everything related to our onboarding program. Do first impressions matter? For sure! That’s why I firmly believe that we as an organization need to keep the finger at the pulse and check how our new colleagues experience these first days, weeks and months. Thanks to a great onboarding crew, let’s keep up the good work. Since 2023, I’m committed to shaping our internal mobility program further. I’m convinced that no two people’s career path is the same. That’s because we all have our own personality, talents and interests. In my opinion, when I hire someone to join delaware in a specific team for a specific job, it is never the end of the story, it is just the beginning. Being able to move internally brings new experiences, opportunities for growth and with it, renewed motivation. Sure, it requires efforts from both employee and employer, but in the end will lead to a more fulfilling and long lasting collaboration. While being involved in this internal mobility project, I’ve learned that it's not always easy for people to decide for themselves how they want to evolve in their career. Sometimes they struggle with that question. So, at the beginning of 2024, I took an external training to become a certified career coach. I saw a great opportunity there for me personally, in terms of my own career development, but also to bring that extra knowledge to delaware. I’ve now taken on an additional role in our organization so that, whenever someone at delaware needs some career guidance, they can contact me. We can decide together if career coaching is indeed something that would be valuable to them. You see where I get my motivation from? I’m super grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given during my employment at delaware. Special thanks to Paula Montes de Rard, Ann Hendrix and Wim De Jonghe for their support. Maybe this post will inspire you to think about the direction you're heading and open up the conversation about it? And now, closing off for today and see if I can still score that ice cream in our freezer….
