Implementation challenges in Urban Planning and Public Space projects. 1) Rather than releasing single tenders covering , Concept, Detailed Design and DPRs.... City governments should first only and only focus on getting clarity on Vision, design strategies, broad cost estimations, phasing and identification of implementation challenges. All this should be first covered by a Tender for Comprehensive Master Plan. Only after complete clarity through a Master Plan, the project should be further taken up. #smartcities #urbandevelopment #masterplan #publicspaces #cities #urbandesign #urbanplanning

Floating rotating tower, when the foundation is not fixed, a tower unveils infinite options. A flexible base under these structures enables a range of opportunities, such as adapting to shifting tides and coastal conditions, or constructing resilient buildings in disaster-prone areas. Furthermore, this flexibility revolutionizes urban planning by facilitating swift adjustments and experimentation. Embracing mistakes becomes integral to the process, as they allow for quick corrections, thereby accelerating decision-making processes. This approach fosters innovation and contributes to the development of dynamic urban landscapes. #floating #foundation #flexible #decisionmaking #process #urbanplanning #tower

Our new landmark study entitled Corridors: Designing linear infrastructure in a non-linear world launches today. In the report, Hassell’s Urban Research Lead Camilla Siggaard Andersen shows how Corridors – from our high streets to highways, waterways to railways – can, and indeed must, be designed to deliver greater value for all. While built linear infrastructure usually brings significant economic opportunities, the social and especially environmental costs are rapidly mounting. “For the sake of our planet and communities — a new approach is urgently required to tackle the shared multidimensional impacts of corridors,” says Camilla. Packed with ground-breaking projects from around the world along with a practical taxonomy and workshop toolkit, “this report should be on the meeting table from day one of every corridor project,” says Martin Knight, Managing Director Knight Architects. 🔗 Learn more and download the report: https://lnkd.in/gmbCJSnd Pictured (in order): Colma Creek, South San Francisco, USA.
