The main reason for this being a lack of understanding of ELD's fundamental principles. ELD relies on conductivity to function (ASTM D7877-14). It creates an electrical potential (electric charge) between the tested membrane and the underlying surface. For accurate testing, two key factors are: 𝟭. 𝗔 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲⚡️🚫 The tested membrane must be non-conductive. Most common roofing materials like Bitumen systems or synthetics sheets like PVC or TPO membranes are non-conductive and can be inspected. 𝟮. 𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝘆) ⚡️✅ The underlying surface must provide sufficient conductivity (i.e., the roof deck, thermal insulation, or a specifically designed conductive material).
