It's incredibly fulfilling to witness the genuine growth of our music community. You might find it hard to believe that a music-focused community for independent creators and entrepreneurs, like “The Crash”, could foster such deep connections. But it truly does, and I'm immensely proud to witness this authentic growth. #jointhecrash 👉🏽 https://bit.ly/46ogA2T Now, let me share some advice with you. Here are six (6) key factors to consider when investing in a community centered around your growth as a music entrepreneur: 1. Reciprocity Matters: Ensure the community values reciprocity, supporting each other's growth and success wholeheartedly. 2. Commitment to Relationships: Give priority to forging meaningful connections with members who genuinely contribute to the community's growth. 3. Family-like Environment: Seek out a membership that fosters a strong sense of belonging and support, creating a true family-like atmosphere. 4. Diverse Support: Look for a community that offers assistance not only in music-related matters but also extends support in personal and spiritual aspects. 5. Genuine Love: Emphasize the importance of love and compassion within the community, nurturing an atmosphere of care and understanding. 6. Inclusivity: Choose a membership that warmly welcomes newcomers and treats everyone with respect, regardless of their experience or background. Embrace a community that celebrates diversity and inclusiveness at its core." #jointhecrash 👉🏽 https://bit.ly/46ogA2T

It was a real pleasure to discuss my favourite topic of collective management in Africa with other music industry experts on the panel at the African Music Summit today. CMOs are an important source of revenue for artists and labels. With the exception of South Africa, CMOs are very poorly performing in the majority of African countries, including those where the most popular talent is coming from - in other terms it means that they are either not receiving the revenues or they are very small for the use of their music in Africa. To achieve change, it is essential to invest in educating African local authors, artists and labels and all participants of the music business ecosystem to create the force and power to drive the change. #AfricanMusicSummit #AMS #AMusicSummit #musicindustry #collectivemanagement #CMO

TFCC is set to work with the Government of Jersey to shape a new Music Manifesto for the island. This will explore how music can play a starring role in the island's cultural life and creative economy. It includes a review of music education, licensing, live music infrastructure and more. It builds from the recent Arts Strategy for Jersey, led by TFCC. This included the establishment of a new creative island partnership to drive cultural development and facilitate better joint working. It also included a focus on talent development from early years to professionals, on the role of arts and culture in health and wellbeing, and on growing the island's creative industries. TFCC has developed arts and cultural strategies, plus targeted research and partnership activities, across a range of 'island settings' in recent years, with activities in places as diverse as Jamaica, Faroe Islands, Malta, Madeira, Tasmania and Barbados. The distinctive attributes of islands - e.g. strong sense of identity, distinctive local cultures, and often attractive cultural tourism offer; combine with challenges of scale, critical mass, visibility and talent retention. The potential for sharing knowledge and building good practice models for creative islands are topics we are exploring and which we would like to scope with partners across the world. #creativejersey #musicmanifesto #creativeislands #governmentofjersey #musicstrategy #musicpolicy #creativeindustries #arts #creativeeconomy https://lnkd.in/emCu27Wg

Each cultural ecosystem is unique in its identity, people, and history. This diversity is what makes our work at Sound Diplomacy so fascinating, as we get to know places through their arts and culture. However, many places face similar challenges in their local scenes. The most common issue is the lack of cultural intermediaries to support local creation. As my colleague Ramón Woodyatt writes about music ecosystems: "Rather than receiving support to improve their skills in creating or producing music, artists are more concerned with getting their music out there and reaching a wider audience. Poor intermediary development is exacerbated by a lack of artists' skills in these areas, leading to a significant gap in the overall supply of these services and knowledge in local ecosystems." This situation calls for a substantial change in local cultural policy, where support should target not only creators but also the intermediary workers who assist them. This doesn't necessarily mean financial support but at least a strong commitment to facilitate cultural intermediary activities in every possible way. Of course, this won't solve all the problems related to the cultural sector as a whole, but it's a first step towards a more effective and inclusive landscape. Read more:
