At Apple FCU we are passionate about creating an atmosphere of caring and community. It says it right on our website - "Our engagement and volunteerism begin with the fundamental belief that, as a member-owned financial cooperative, we must go beyond providing financial services." And of course, this extends beyond our community work and right to our members who call or visit our branches. We truly love our Apple FCU family! #MyAppleFCU #peoplefirstculture #creditunioncommunity #credituniondifference #creditunion #northernvirginiacreditunion #ImagineThat

Until city officials intentionally invest resources into COLLABORATIVE initiatives: data collection, planning, program development, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation, our black minority communities will always experience the adversities of wealth creation. The wealth gap is widening and that collective consciousness is slipping. Time is relative, and so are opportunities. Take a walk through your community and one that's progressing slower, and you'll observe the disparities (if you actually care to)... #WealthGap #BlackWealth #CollectiveImpact #WealthCreation #CommunityDevelopment #CommunityBasedIncubators

The "Black Community" is a misnomer, in the discussion of economic self-defense. There is no blanket solution to our economic concerns. Each ward in Cleveland has separate teams because each ward has different needs. Voting and working with your local government can improve your standard of living and the scalability of your business. If you don't know where to start, attend a city hall meeting and look for events where you can meet your councilman/councilwoman. Each city has its own website and lists its initiatives and focus. Each ward must take inventory of the needs of their residents, so speak up and make it clear. When looking for locations for residential or commercial real estate, you should make sure that the other residents have voted in your interest, previously. At times your scalability and longevity depend on how well you understand the problems of your neighbors. Everyone may need different things but the similarities are where we find the most potential for impact!

Diversity and inclusion are the only way America will survive. But some Black people are too emotional and some White people are too narrow minded and fearful on this topic. If you have a business, or a fortune 500 company, you're more likely to be prosperous and profitable if you're diverse and inclusive. So diversity is actually good business. What are the Educational, Health, or Economic Benefits to these Players and their Families for that kids uncompensated participation in any additional “NON-SCHOLARSHIP” private third-party postseason football games that pay the Universities and the Conferences for the use of their free labor to put on these highly profitable Bowl events. The answer is ZERO! These additional 1-5 POSTSEASON games are also above the Players’ 12 game athletic scholarship agreement? Our Proposal offers Major Benefits in all three Categories to the Players and their Families! Scholarship Football Players are owed Hundreds of Millions of dollars from this year’s Media contract that uses these Players’ Name, Image, and Likeness NIL without any equitable financial consideration to the Players or their Families! This lost Money could have a major impact on these Players lives, the lives of their current and future family members for generations? We do not support, or agree with the House vs NCAA Settlement or the current covert attempts to extend and expand this Antitrust exploitation of our young (mostly minority) FB & BB Players' labor that the US Supreme Court and Federal District Court have recently struck down as illegal and implausible.

Did you make a New Year's resolution for 2024? What about a CIVIC resolution? "There’s never been a better year, in fact, for civic resolutions. You may not believe, in these dark times, that your civic pledges can make much difference. But civic life is a muscle, and you can resolve to strengthen it every day — just as you might set out to practice a sport or a musical instrument." — Eliza Newlin Carney, Writer, Founder of The Civic Circle, and Civic Saturday Fellowship alumna. To restore our democracy, we must show up as active participants. This requires people who are ready to make a civic resolution to activate their civic power. Check out Eliza's blog to learn more about what it means to make a civic resolution.

Equipping Leaders with the skills & strategies to build equitable, inclusive company cultures. DEI Trainer | Culture Consultant | Executive Coach-PCC | Facilitator | Professional Speaker
Here’s what’s not new: “the business and economic case” for DEI. But John Hope Bryant is elevating some powerful talking points about the economic benefits of accepting the realities of an increasing racially diverse nation. He’s been on the rounds making this case, worldwide, for a while now. And a number of publications have been releasing data on the same, including a McKinsey report this past fall. I am curious what folks think as this secondary theme Mr Bryant is elevating: 1) Black people are too emotional when it comes to this topic 2) White folks are fearful or apathetic. I’m curious about the accusation that “Black people being too emotional”. (a) what does being too emotional mean or look like? (b) what is emotional enough? (c)as the target for multiple systems of oppression, do Black people have the justifiable right to have emotions when it comes to their desire to see DE&I sustained? I also think that what I’ve read so far falls into the trap that the anti-DEI Movement has set, which is to wrongfully paint DEI as something that is for Black people only. There are 18 different social identities we’ve been called in to design organizational Equity strategies around, with race only being one. There’s something else that comes to mind when I read his Blueprint that lays out the business case for DEI. Generally it’s said that companies choose to do DEI because of (1) a values-driven reason or (2) This business case to at times DEI to economic gains. Some choose to do DEI for a 3rd reason that I, and other change management consultants like Lily Zheng, recommend; an outcomes approach that sees equity as an outcome to achieve that is connected to an existing culture or structure challenge that the organization feels needs to be changed. I don’t personally know any organizations who are involved in DEI because the business case (and economic incentives) was so compelling they HAD to do it. I’m also curious if an organization would even admit the business case was their motivator. - Example:“We weren’t moved to do DEI from a values stance, but when we looked at the fiscal benefits, it was an easy choice for us to make the investment.” I’d love to know your thoughts! Let’s get a conversation started. #businesscase #DEI #culturechange
