July is #UVSafetyMonth - Even though radiation from UV light is invisible, it can be harmful to skin and eyes. UV exposure is associated with most skins cancers. It can affect eyes and lead to cataracts, cornea damage and vision loss long term. The sun is at its peak between 10am-4pm. Stay indoors or in shade when possible during these times and if not use sunscreen of at least 30 SPF. Wear a broad-brimmed hat, sunglasses and breathable clothing that covers you up. Did you know repeated exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (#UV) #radiation can cause #skincancer? This can include the deadliest form #melanoma, which can spread from your skin to your brain, liver, and lungs. Everyday outdoor activities like walking the dog or gardening can expose your skin to the sun's UV radiation. The more the skin is exposed, the greater the risk of skin cancer. This #summer, SunSmart Victoria is calling for Australians to cover up. When you go out, don’t let cancer in. When the #UVIndex is 3 or more, slip on protective clothing, slop on a broad spectrum sunscreen, slap on a broad brimmed hat, slide on quality sunglasses and seek shade from the sun wherever possible. Find out how at http://sunsmart.com.au #SlipSlopSlapSeekSlide

Headed to the #snow this winter? Did you know that #UV #radiation levels are higher at high altitude as there is less atmosphere to absorb the UV rays.? Plus, fresh snow is able to reflect UV radiation, making your skin vulnerable to #sunburn and skin damage. This means that your skin is not only exposed to the sunlight, but also the sunlight bouncing off the snow. This ski season, ARPANSA recommends: ❄️ Applying a SPF50 or SPF50 , broad-spectrum, water-resistant #sunscreen and lip balm. ❄️ Wearing a polarised wrap around your eye protection to prevent UV and sun glare affecting your eyes. ❄️ Covering up as much as possible. Australia has one of the highest rates of #skincancer in the world, with 2 out of 3 Australians developing some form of skin cancer during their lifetime. Stay #SunSmart this winter.

👉Do You Need to Wear Sunscreen Indoors?🤔 The short answer is yes, you need to wear sunscreen indoors! That's because UVA rays have longer wavelengths which can penetrate glass windows. UVA light causes premature skin aging by breaking down collagen and elastic tissue, contributing to the formation of skin cancers. If you sit by a window like this at work or home, you are getting a lot more sun exposure than you may realize.🌞So, it is a good idea to apply sunscreen to exposed areas of your skin. #IndoorSunProtection #SunscreenIndoors #UVAwareness #StaySunSafe #SkinHealthTips #IndoorUV #UVAProtection #SunSafetyReminder #SkinWellness #HealthySkinHabits #SunscreenTips #ProtectYourSkin #DailySunSafety #SkinProtection101 #SunAwareness

Sunlight, essential for life, also has its challenges, especially for our skin. UV radiation, while invigorating, can silently damage skin at a molecular level. At OneSkin, our investigations into this silent assailant have revealed that prolonged UV exposure can lead to DNA damage, thereby accelerating the aging process. Astoundingly, up to 90% of visible skin aging signs trace back to UV exposure. Protection, then, is not a luxury but a necessity. Daily high-SPF sunscreen use, combined with antioxidants, can shield against UV's insidious effects, preserving skin's health and luminosity. In the battle against skin aging, knowledge is our strongest ally. Armed with understanding, we can effectively counteract the adverse effects of UV radiation, ensuring our skin remains vibrant and healthy for longer. #UVProtection #OneSkinWisdom
