At YFCA, we believe in the transformative power of education. Our journey is a testament to the resilience and dedication of our community, even in the face of adversity. 📚 Access to Education: We strive to ensure that every child and adult in Yemen has access to quality education. Our programs reach the farthest and most conflict-affected areas, bringing learning opportunities to those who need them most. 🛠️ Rebuilding Schools: Our commitment goes beyond access; we actively rehabilitate schools, turning ruins into safe havens of learning. These schools become beacons of hope in their communities, offering a sense of normalcy and stability in turbulent times. 👩🏫 Investing in Educators: We recognize that the heart of education lies in its teachers. That’s why we invest heavily in training and professional development, empowering educators to inspire and engage the next generation of leaders. 🤝 Inclusive Education: Education is a right, not a privilege. Our initiatives are inclusive, ensuring that marginalized groups, girls, and children with disabilities are given equal opportunities to learn and grow. 🆘 Emergency Educational Response: In times of crisis, we act swiftly to address educational disruptions. Our emergency response ensures that education continues, providing a lifeline of learning amidst chaos. Our mission is clear: to empower the people of Yemen through education. We stand committed to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4, and with every child we reach, we move one step closer to a brighter, more sustainable future for all. #YemenEducation #SDG4 #Empowerment #Resilience #YFCA

It has become imperative that we continue to emphasize the importance of Foundational skills development, particularly for children who continue to experience disruptions in their education due to natural disasters, hazards, and other emergencies. As a nation, We must provide alternative and innovative solutions to cater to the educational needs of children living in rural and disadvantaged communities, Internally Displaced Persons(IDP) Camp as well as refugee camps that continue to face learning crises due to insurgencies happening around the world ensuring that they develop the foundational skills needed for effective life long learning. I am always excited about sharing the impact of the Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi) FastTrack innovative solution to the problem of foundational skill development that exists in rural and disadvantaged communities in Nigeria. With the use of AREAi’s FastTrack Model, we have supported out-of-school learners, particularly young refugees, with the fundamental and essential skills for future learning, reaching over 25,000 children in 15 camps and communities, with over 18,000 of them already transitioned out of camps into formal schools. Innovations like this are commendable as they continue to solve the learning crisis among young learners. I encourage more educational institutions to look into foundational skill development for every child because these skills are essential for life-long learning. #foundationalskills #foundationallearning #qualityeducation4all

Social Development & Climate Advocacy Expert/United Nations Prog-Operations Specialist/Expert Board Member and Former Global Chair; United Nations Pensions Fund
I had a great time with Enitan Oteju Ibironke and the Institute of Humanities of the Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) Lagos, Nigeria as I shared experience on a topic I often get to respond off -the-cuff every time people ask me why I left the United Nations 15years ahead of normal retirement age. I could have worked till 65! My answer is always the same: the organization’s goal and my personal goals were alligned through a programme called P2D introduced by UNICEF in late 2002. It was aimed at providing Personal & Professional Development Training to all staff so you could allign your future goals while keeping a professional focus in the interest of both staff and organization. I got certifications in the areas of my interest and also ensured my roles within the organization did not surfer. I knew I was going to spend the rest of my professional life in Human Capacity Development and being a teacher as that’s my comfort zone, so it was an opportunity I grabbed with both hands and today I feel completely fulfilled personally and professionally while I ensured that my transition from the UN office was seamless, the current holder of the post I left was my mentee of over 10yrs and today he is doing a great job within the organization. It’s a testimonial that Organizations can blend their goals with those of the employees without both parties unsatisfied. It can be a win-win situation if we’ll planned. #humanisticnetwork #retirementplanning #P2D #preparedness #goalsetting #professionaldevelopment #personability

Child labour has detrimental physical and mental effects on children. In this report is an analysis of the factors that influence the likelihood of the child’s involvement in child labour; one of which is school attendance. Read the full data snapshot on child labour by UNICEF Egypt: https://bit.ly/3RpYrfc #EndChildLabourDay #DataForChildren
On Child Labour Day, we highlight the consequences faced by children subjected to labor at an early age, especially in more hazardous conditions. These dangerous environments can significantly impact their physical and mental development, as well as their overall health. Research indicates that factors such as the father's employment, the education level of both parents, and the child's regular school attendance reduce the likelihood of a child engaging in work. UNICEF is proud to support the efforts of the Egyptian Government and the National Action Plan to Combat the Worst Forms of Child Labour.
