The resurgence of semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S. highlights a significant gap: the need for skilled workers equipped for technical roles that require specific training over traditional four-year degrees. For high schoolers, the semiconductor industry offers lucrative, secure job pathways foundational to modern infrastructure – from smartphones to national defense systems. Initiatives at community colleges provide rapid training for these high-demand roles, while efforts to diversify the field, such as all-female classes, promote inclusive growth. At Tallo, we're committed to connecting young talent with industries like semiconductor manufacturing, helping to bridge educational and career gaps. By partnering with educational institutions and businesses, we guide young people toward impactful careers. The momentum behind America's revamped industrial policy is commendable, with significant investments flowing into semiconductor facilities and electric-vehicle manufacturing hubs. However, a pivotal question arises: Who will power these industries? According to the Semiconductor Industry Association's projection, by 2030, there will be a deficit of 67,000 professionals in the chip sector alone, encompassing technicians, computer scientists, and engineers. Broaden the lens, and the wider economy could see a staggering shortage of nearly 1.4 million such talents. Considering that only about 70,000 students earn their undergraduate degrees in engineering in the US each year, the impending talent gap is crystal clear. The team at iGlobal Talent are leaders in connecting high-demand global talent with worldwide job and immigration opportunities. Reach out at [email protected] It's high time to bridge this skills gap and invest in the future workforce of America. #IndustrialRevolution #SkillsGap #FutureOfWork #SemiconductorIndustry https://lnkd.in/gzps89Bz

What an opportunity for new tech graduates. We as a country also need to focus (and invest) more into vocational training versus just four-year degrees. Here is a report from #theeconomist! “A baseline estimate from the Semiconductor Industry Association, a trade body, is that by 2030 America’s chip sector will face a shortage of 67,000 technicians, computer scientists, and engineers, and about 1.4m such workers throughout the wider economy. Set this against the total of roughly 70,000 students who complete undergraduate degrees in engineering in America each year, and the scale of the deficit becomes apparent. Whatever the precise gap, it marks the difference between foundries running at full capacity with labor bills under control or ending up mired in high costs and low productivity.” As China gets an expensive place to build factories and geopolitics harden the bubbles, this is America’s opportunity to rearchitect the #techecosystem! At the end of this decade, the #semiconductormanufacturing ecosystem could look very different!
