ELC Analyst - Europe | Former Compensation & Benefits Intern at SLB | Former Deputy President of UPM Student Council || Global Business Services
Earlier this year, I have been invited to a one-on-one session in Kuala Lumpur with Dato' Zakri Afandi Ismail, Director of a prominent Malaysian investment holding company. This incredible opportunity comes after being awarded the prestigious Best Student award at my university, generously sponsored by Dato' Zakri himself. During our session, Dato' Zakri shared invaluable advice that I believe is essential for students and interns embarking on their career journeys: 🍀 1. Knowing Who You Are Going to Be: Visualize where you want to be in the next 10 years. Identify the area, position, or company you aspire to join. Start planning from day one because a goal without a plan is just a dream. 2. Knowing Why: Discover your 'why.' Understanding what motivates you and brings you joy helps you make informed choices and gives you the courage to pursue meaningful goals while saying no to distractions. 3. Acknowledge the Importance of English: Proficiency in English can be a game-changer. It can boost your chances of securing international positions or climbing the corporate ladder in a major company. 4. Create a Network with People: Building a strong professional network is crucial. It opens doors to new opportunities, provides valuable advice, and accelerates career growth. In today’s competitive job market, networking is more important than ever. 5. Career is a Lifelong Journey: For students and interns, this is just the beginning. Career planning helps set a future course, ensuring you choose educational paths that align with your aspirations. It encourages exploration of different career options, understanding market trends, and identifying necessary skills for success. Dato' Zakri’s insights have been incredibly inspiring, and I hope these tips resonate with you as much as they did with me. Let’s take charge of our futures and turn our dreams into reality! 🙌🏼🏆 #CareerAdvice #Networking #CareerPlanning #ProfessionalGrowth #StudentSuccess

Thrilled to reflect on my enriching 10-month journey as a Sustainability and Social Responsibility Associate at Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA)!✈️🌱 This internship has been a profound journey of learning, growth, and self-discovery. Here’s a glimpse of what I have learned: 🌱 Sustainability in Tourism: Immersing myself in sustainability initiatives within the tourism industry has been very eye-opening; there are so many approaches and initiatives aiming to steer this industry toward a more sustainable and resilient future. One of my supervisors once said that sustainable tourism should not be a category of tourism because travel and tourism, no matter what kind, should be sustainable and responsible in itself. 🌟 Collaboration Across Borders: Working alongside a diverse array of stakeholders — from governmental bodies to NGOs, private sector entities, businesses, and individuals from various countries — allows me to see the power of collaboration. I have been amazed by how these stakeholders bring forward such diverse approaches to sustainable tourism. I believe that, with joined forces and diverse minds, we can thrive and drive for collective impacts for our mutual goals. 🛠️ Acquisition of Invaluable Skills: With variations of tasks and assignments, I have learned a number of skills, from soft skills like communication and adaptability to hard skills like project proposal writing and carbon emission calculation. It was such a great time getting to hone new skills while practicing the old ones at the same time! 🔍 Self-Discovery: One of the most important lessons learned was about myself. Throughout the internship journey, there were times I faced challenges, but that was when I could see my strengths and weaknesses. I had the opportunity to observe how I handle different situations, and I found that to be very invaluable self-discovery. 🎯 Shaping Future Goals: This journey has been fundamental in shaping my future aspirations. Equipped with newfound knowledge, experiences, and a deeper understanding of myself, I become more confident in utilizing my new skill sets and pursuing my passions and purposes. For those of you who are interested in sustainability and tourism and opportunities like mine, PATA is a great place to learn more about it! 🤩 If you want to be a part of the PATA internship program and sustainability journey, please visit https://lnkd.in/gJSUsXXE #Sustainability #SocialResponsibility #InternshipJourney #PATAExperience

Here are five areas in Bangkok that are popular among expatriates and tourists: Sukhumvit: Sukhumvit Road is one of the main thoroughfares in Bangkok and is known for its bustling and cosmopolitan atmosphere. This area is popular among expats due to its proximity to many amenities like shopping malls, international restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. It also offers a wide range of accommodation options, from budget hostels to luxury hotels. Silom: Silom is a central business district and a popular area for both business travelers and tourists. It's well-connected by public transportation and has a mix of modern skyscrapers and traditional Thai culture. The neighborhood offers a great nightlife scene, with plenty of bars, clubs, and restaurants. Silom is also close to the Chao Phraya River, making it convenient for river transportation. Sathorn: Located adjacent to Silom, Sathorn is another business and residential district known for its upscale and luxurious properties. Many foreign embassies are located here, contributing to its international vibe. Sathorn is a more laid-back area compared to the hustle and bustle of Sukhumvit, making it suitable for those seeking a quieter atmosphere. Riverside (Chao Phraya River): The Riverside area along the Chao Phraya River is a popular choice for travelers seeking a more scenic and relaxed environment. It offers stunning views of the river and is home to many luxury hotels and resorts. While it may be slightly removed from the city center, the area provides a serene escape from the bustling urban life. Thonglor and Ekkamai: These two adjacent neighborhoods are trendy among younger expats and locals alike. Known for their hip and upscale atmosphere, Thonglor and Ekkamai boast numerous stylish cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. The area has a lively nightlife scene, making it a favorite among those looking for a mix of modernity and sophistication. Keep in mind that preferences can vary widely, and it's essential to consider your personal interests, budget, and lifestyle when choosing an area to stay in Bangkok. Additionally, the city is continually evolving, so there might be other emerging neighborhoods that cater to foreigners in different ways. Always research the latest information and check for updates before making any decisions. www.myinternshipasia.com #internshipinasia #mia #intern #internationalinternship #internshipasia #internshipinthailand #internlife #internshipreviews #myinternshipasia #MIAreviews

What a nightmare! Based on this article from YLE, Halloween is never quite over for some people residing in Finland: "Foreign students are not even accepted for unpaid internships - only food delivery and cleaning are offered". This untapped potential of international students in Finnish workplaces is a narrative that needs our attention: these individuals have gained their education from Finnish universities, they pay for tuition and are ready to contribute yet often miss out on valuable internship opportunities in their own fields. I think this is unacceptable, very unfair and that we can do better! As someone who advocates for creative solutions in building diverse and inclusive workplaces, I urge organizations to: ✅ Reflect on the inclusivity of their intern programs. ✅ Recognize the innovation that international students can bring. ✅ Foster an environment where internships are a launchpad for diverse talent. With consciousness and effort, we can pave the way for workplaces that not only value diversity but thrive on it! #DEI #diversity #inclusion #equity #internship #hr #equalopportunities #education #socialjustice #sustainability #responsiblebusiness #inclusiveleadership #workplaceculture

Passionate Marketer | Driving Brand Awareness | Strategic Product Marketing | Planning and Execution | Social media
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞! That's what I tell myself when things go from 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘭 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘬 to 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘺... or...when I am booking flights 😇. ✈I had an incredible flight over the past 4 years at A.P. Moller - Maersk. I took off as a Student Assistant, made an internship layover in Panama and eventually got upgraded to a business class with two amazing full time positions. The plane I was on was constantly fully booked by amazing, supportive and so talented people who always took me even further and created this trip unforgettable 👏. 😒Unfortunately, even the longest flight with several connections has its final destination (my position has been made redundant).During this trip I captured few moments showcasing how amazing time I had at Maersk. Check it out 📸⬇ As the final destination with Maersk approaches, I've decided to take a break from corporate life as well as Denmark🌧. Soon, I'll be embarking on a world voyage 🌎, combining my love for travel with my passion for marketing and eagerness to explore different business concepts and gain new skills while exploring the world. 🙏𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫: ✨ 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 in the area of marketing, project management and event organisation (must be remote) ✨ 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 in the area of coffee farms, vineyards, building community homes etc. Continents> South America/Africa/Oceania (short term) And what is the last call? MSc - IHRM | Assoc CIPD | Experienced Hotel Manager @ EQ Kuala Lumpur | Elevating Guest Experiences | YNWA
And with that, as well as after spending the past two years studying nonstop, enduring the Covid pandemic, guiding the hotel EQ Kuala Lumpur through a challenging economic situation, going through two role changes, and having the support of many people, most notably my family, I can now declare that I have officially handed in my final dissertation today. What a remarkable adventure it has been for me, and I give thanks to the Almighty that I have been able to finish this. The Manchester Metropolitan University #mastersdegree #humanresources

Finnish working culture: 🇫🇮 Before dive-in, let me tell you I am working as a trainee for an event Pelasta Perämeri (Save the Bothnian Bay) at Oulun kaupunki - City of Oulu One of the most striking aspects I like, is the relaxed and stress-free working environment. Finnish people never take stress or pressure of work, they prioritize work-life balance, ensuring that their personal well-being is never compromised by work demands. And I think this is the most important thing when you really want outcomes! 🙌 Behind every successful event or project there is always processing and implementation phase, and you know what is the best thing? They always pay attention to “details” ✨. They always value collaboration and open communication, and respect others viewpoints. I loved it when my manager said to me, oh wow, I never knew this technique before, thank you for letting me know. I know, it’s not a big deal but it feels very good when a high-positioned person learns something from you ✨ Meetings are always well-structured and productive, with a clear focus on achieving the best outcomes. Very grateful to get this chance to work in Finnish workplace. P.s. picture from a meeting where we were planning the agenda of a trip to Sweden to record the content. #worklife #trainee #finnishworkculture

Introducing one of our Apprentice Alumni, Dhania Safira Syahfitri, who spent the last year as our Sales & Marketing Apprentice at The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Jakarta. The #sales department is always something that piqued Dhania's interest, A great salesperson is really hard to come by these days, and it's very clear that Dhania has aspired to be a great one. "Ever since I completed my #internship program at the previous property, it became very clear to me that I wanted to build a #salescareer early on, as sales is such a critical part of a hotel as it drives the hotel's revenue. The skills itself is also highly applicable, which means I get to implement it in any other businesses or different industries." "During my #apprenticeship at The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Jakarta, a Tribute Portfolio, Jakarta I've learned a lot about what makes a great salesperson. Currently, I am with the complex sales team of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. and JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta as their Sales Coordinator and within this position, I get to stretch myself further and experiment with a more proactive sales role. I felt a lot more confident when meeting with guests" We take immense pride in nurturing talent, fostering growth, and creating pathways to success for our team members.
