Sustainable materials are starting to take a bite out of the share of single-use plastics in circulation, but replacing the full $600 billion plastics market is going to take more innovation and much more capital. This week, we speak Brian Gordon, President and COO of Verde Bioresins and Jin-Goon Kim, Chairman and CEO of TLGY Acquisition Corporation (Nasdaq: TLGY). The two announced a $433 million combination in June. Europe is almost 100% dependent on lithium imports, and our demand for lithium is growing exponentially. DeepTech Recycling is delighted to announce it has secured £0.8m in new funding, allowing the company to advance its mission of making plastic sustainable and supporting the critical global drive towards a circular economy for plastics. The fundraising follows a first closing of c.£1.3m that was completed in December 2023, bringing the total amount raised to c.£2.1m. The funding will support DeepTech Recycling's development phase for its pilot plant, as well as the development and adaption of its targeted technology and licensing strategy. The company believes it has a strong position in a massive market, amidst a growing recognition that chemical recycling is going to be an essential route for dealing with the environmental challenges of plastic waste and ensuring sustainable and circular polymer production. NetScientific is delighted to announce that its portfolio company DeepTech Recycling, a plastic recycling technology platform, has successfully closed a £1 million fundraising. The fundraising was led by NetScientific VC subsidiary EMV Capital and was carried out via an advance subscription agreement. The proceeds of the fundraising will, inter alia, support DeepTech Recycling in commercialising its patented technology, as well as developing commercial opportunities. In December 2022, DeepTech Recycling, in which the NetScientific group holds a 30% stake, acquired the majority of assets of Recycling Technologies Limited out of administration. Since the acquisition, the value creation team of EMV Capital has worked closely with DeepTech Recycling to consolidate assets and IP, and start on the commercial roadmap of the business. The total equity holding of NetScientific in DeepTech Recycling remains at 30%. The capital under advisory of EMV Capital in respect of investors introduced by it to DeepTech Recycling has increased by £1 million. Dr ILIAN ILIEV, CEO of NetScientific, and Chair and Investment Director of DeepTech Recycling, comments: "We are pleased with the outcome of this pivotal fundraising for DeepTech Recycling.
