The Hive cafe offers a safe space for the community. We're supporting their journey to become the most #DeafFriendly cafe in #Huddersfield. Here's our top tips: 1. Staff training: Share our training to other team members. 2. Visual Communication: Clear, well-lit signage can help deaf customers find what they need and see what’s available e.g. toilets, the herbal teas etc Use pictures and symbols where possible. 3. Technology: 'Sign BSL’ app is an online dictionary of over 4000 signs. It’s handy to have on your phone to show a deaf customer a sign or to look one up and use it yourself. 4. Deaf-Friendly Menu: Use pictures and symbols where possible to assist with ordering. 5. Seating Arrangement: Be mindful which seats you offer. Face to face seating arrangements in a quiet, well-lit area are best for communication. 6. Feedback: Create a feedback system where customers & communities both deaf and hearing, can provide input on the cafe's accessibility and suggest improvements. 7. Encourage deaf customers: Promote your cafe as a deaf-friendly establishment.

Here at Sociability, we know all too well the problems that disabled people face when searching for the accessibility information of venues and planning a day out 🕵🏼🧐 That’s why we are here to help make that process a little easier with an app designed to help disabled people find accessible places, specific to their access needs📱🙌🏻 We are delighted to be working alongside Benugo to map all of their cafes and restaurants in #RegentsPark 🌳 Back in April, Jennie visited the park with a friend, to check it out and in typical English weather style, they needed to find an accessible cafe quickly to get out of the rain ☔. Being a large site with multiple café’s makes knowing where to go tricky if you haven’t visited before and having to risk visiting a venue without knowing if you can actually get in or not, is a huge energy-draining task for many disabled people. Too often disabled people are left spending hours ringing around and not finding the answers they need or wandering around trying to find somewhere to go that can accommodate their needs. Couple that with last-minute plans and it’s usually a recipe for disaster 🫠. Using Sociability you can search for bars, café’s, restaurants, and pubs, and filter using the specific access requirements you may have. We capture a whole host of information, from mobility-related accessibility to visual, hearing and sensory. What are your experiences with finding new places to visit? Let us know in the comments ⬇️💙 Ps. You can download the app today for free in the App or Google Playstore here: https://lnkd.in/e6hDEawU

This was a good read! We continue to make advancements with in-person accessibility while new technology also creates new problems for people with certain disabilities. One thing I talk about constantly from my AudioEye days is that restaurants are one of the industries most targeted by accessibility lawsuits. Having perfectly structured menus on your website, as well as on your listings - How many times do you still see a PDF menu on Google? - makes your menu more accessible for all and is an important step in limiting your risk of a potential ADA lawsuit. The best part? If Google can read your structured menu items, then you're more likely to come up higher in relevant search results! #winwin Diamond Gass Ty D'Amore Randall Heller Nicole Wight Samantha Fraser

I am very happy !!! Share this news with you 🤸♂️ Possibility to complete applications for booking tables in restaurants. Why were such steps taken to build the application? When researching restaurant reservation applications, many options are inactive for the user without creating an account. In the group, I decided to take the following steps: ✅ Creating an option with open access to the application without logging in. ✅ Preview of available tables at a specific time and selection of place and possible personalization. ✅Add a discount to your bill when we use the app. The challenge for our team: 📌Development of individual floors of the restaurant. I wanted their form to refer to the application logo and have a nice graphic form with contrast and simplicity. 📌When designing attention, it is worth taking into account the entire width of the phone. This solution makes it easier to use the application both right and left-handed. In the future, deepen your capabilities: ⭐️Developing skills in using the After Effects program, which introduces additional spatial advantages at work. Collaboration on the project with Joanna Szpitalny, Katarzyna Smolarek. Thanks to Magdalena Błaszczyk, Tomasz Przewłocki for their support on the project. As part of the GoIT Polska course. Director of Business Development at Kwik Lok Corporation | International Growth | Product Strategy | Research | Sustainability | Data Driven Decision Making
Today’s a pretty important day when it comes to how modern commerce evolved to what we see everyday. Something that we all take for granted the ease of checking out at the grocery store, buying a pair of shoes, or just picking up a last-minute item from the corner store, barcodes have made it all possible. We are on the cusp of the next major shift in this data journey as the adoption of 2-D barcodes starts and we edge closer towards the GS1 Sunrise 2027 deadline. With greater technology, information and transparency the way we buy, sell and experience purchased goods will be changing for the better. So today we celebrate the very first scan that changed an entire way of doing business back in 1974 in a small town in Ohio. #GS1 #2D #userexperience #Transparency #Traceability #Frictionless #pointofsale Kwik Lok Corporation GS1 US GS1
Happy #Scanniversary! On this day in 1974 in Troy, Ohio, USA, the first scan of a #barcode made it easier—and faster—for people to shop. Join us in celebrating the “beep” of progress and see what’s next! https://bit.ly/3L3xuvE #GS1Barcode50 #OnThisDay #Shopping
