With enrollment in on-campus courses continuing to decrease, institutions are rethinking the way they deliver courses and have increasingly embraced online learning, alongside #hybridcourses and #blendedlearning offerings, as a way to boost enrollment. For our 2024 Annual Lab Report, we found that: 74% of dept chairs/deans report continued growth in online lab course enrollment since 2021, which keeps pace with the growing interest in STEM. 🎯Just over one-third of students surveyed by Bay View Analytics said they were, or planned to be, majoring in a STEM discipline 🎯The number of STEM jobs is growing twice as fast as non-STEM careers As a result, programs are specifically looking for effective and engaging ways to differentiate and attract students to their science programs while delivering high quality learning experiences, regardless of where students are learning from. This year we expanded our focus to include on-campus lab courses, and what we found is that administrators, instructors, and students all aligned on the top challenge for both online and in-campus labs: 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 📕The takeaway? Whether online or on-campus, programs should continue investing time and effort into providing both students and instructors with the support and resources they need for effective teaching & learning. Want to learn more, including broader trends in online learning? Join Caitlin Runne-Janczy, PhD, QM Quality Matters' Bethany Simunich and Central Piedmont Community College's Ashleigh Breath on Sept 26 when they discuss navigating the evolving landscape of STEM and online learning. https://lnkd.in/gd-YHhMk #CHLOE #CHLOE9
