The NCUA recognizes the achievements and contributions of the Honorable Rodney E. Hood, former NCUA Board Member and Chairman. Rodney Hood led many initiatives to promote financial inclusion during his tenure, such as the ACCESS initiative, serving as Board Chair of NeighborWorks America, and the NCUA’s inaugural DEI Summit, which has expanded into an annual event with attendees from across the credit union community. Forbes Diversity & Inclusion Trailblazer | Co-Creator of Equity Sequence® | Teaches Equitable Innovation | Co-creates Equitable Strategic Plans | Facilitates Equitable Innovation Sprints
Maybe you disagree with me? Have a different perspective? Please share it! (I mean it!) I recently addressed some pressing issues around the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) bans and legislation in the U.S., which are also relevant for our colleagues in Canada and the UK. In my latest video, I unpack the assumptions embedded in these legislative changes—particularly the idea that our systems were once truly meritocratic before DEI initiatives were introduced. This notion suggests that DEI interventions provide an unfair advantage to certain groups, undermining the fairness of our systems. However, as many of us know, true meritocracy is a myth unless systems are designed with equity in mind from the start. 🗣️ I invite you to watch the video and reflect on these questions: Were things ever truly meritocratic? How do current systems and processes reinforce existing power structures? Join the conversation and share your thoughts on how we can move towards genuine equity. #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Meritocracy #Legislation #AffirmativeAction #SocialJustice https://lnkd.in/gA2QqTe9

Where do you stand on racism? Is it really a question? So why do Jews, like me, wonder about how the people around us feel about antisemitism. The Australian Newspaper reports something like a 483% surge in antisemitic acts in Australia since Oct 7. I join the call for our leaders to stand up and SAY NO TO ANTISEMITISM. Sign the pledge today if you are a CEO or business leader. Lead by example and be the difference. #saynotoantisemitism Glenn Lees, Matt Comyn, Shayne Elliott, Ross McEwan, Macquarie Group, Melanie Evans

Global health fellow with the University of California, Berkeley. Sponsored by Gilead Sciences. In clinical research, with interest in Oncology, HIV, TB, and other therapeutic areas. Passionate about equity in health.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) hold significant personal importance to me. Being born and bred in South Africa, a nation marked by a history of racism, I have been exposed to various forms of discrimination. My education at UC Berkeley School of Public Health provided me with insights into addressing discrimination in our everyday lives. I am currently a member of the Employment Equity Committee at ICON Strategic Solutions, South Africa, where I actively contribute to promoting equal opportunity and fair treatment in employment by eliminating unfair discrimination. While our committee plays a role in combating certain forms of discrimination, true transformation requires collective commitment. Individuals must challenge themselves to: 1) Embrace diverse perspectives 2) Recognize and address personal biases 3) Appreciate the strength derived from our collective diversity. Before recognizing biases however, the crucial step involves self-reflection. As we embark on the new year, 2024. I urge each of us to identify our biases and engage in meaningful conversations with those who hold different perspectives, aiming for understanding rather than correction 🙂. By acknowledging the positive outcomes stemming from a diverse environment, we contribute to the greater good, the culture of inclusion. I encourage you to watch Camara Jones's TED talk, providing valuable insights for self-reflection. Let's make 2024 a year of genuine commitment to diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. https://lnkd.in/dUbRpsKY
