Our recent research highlighted distinct viewpoints between Anthropists, who have adopted a more longer-term perspective, and the general public, where the issues raised show a need for more immediate actions. When asked, 'What do you see as the single most important issue facing the UK today?' 32% of Anthropists identified it as pollution, the environment and climate change. However, when the same question was posed to citizens, the public research showed the main concern to be inflation and prices. Anthropy UK encourages leaders to think about the longer term future of the UK, and to consider solutions that require collaboration and agreement among multiple stakeholders, even if success requires more time. Likewise, at Anthropy, we recognise that the priorities of the general public are of a more immediate nature, with a focus on the economic and social issues which impact daily lives. We are therefore determined to facilitate these priorities into our ongoing activities and the agenda for the next national gathering in March 2025. #SectorTransformation 🎥 | The Theory of change is something our colleague Jan Brouwers has been working with for the last 15 years. Why? To achieve social, economic and environmental impact. The Theory of change connects all the tools and practices and combines analysis, planning, monitoring and evaluation to achieve lasting impact. It offers a set of tools that is needed for complex problems like dealing with climate change, obesity or to address structural poverty. Join Jan as he delves into the importance of approaching Theory of Change as a “set of coherent tools” to successfully deal with complexity. WCDI works with Changeroo to realize this vision. 🌍 Climate change is threatening livelihoods worldwide. To build a sustainable future and achieve the #SustainableDevelopmentGoals, we need major socio-ecological changes. This isn't just about policies and science; it requires shifts in our mindsets and behaviours. Religious communities play a vital role in this transformation. They shape our values and can drive socio-ecological change. 📚 The newest #GlobethicsPublication, edited by Philipp Öhlmann and Juliane Stork, explores the role of religious communities in promoting ecological sustainability, with a focus on Southern Africa. it's a valuable resource for scholars, students, faith-based organisations, policymakers, and NGOs. 🌱 Download the book for free to learn more on religion and ecological sustainability in Southern Africa and beyond 🔗https://lnkd.in/dzAhzy7B #ClimateAction #Sustainability #ReligiousCommunities #SouthernAfrica #Publication

Presenting my research at the @World Conference on Climate Research by the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) on the impact of climate change and the typology of adaptation strategies employed by vulnerable communities in Pakistan to cope with #food_insecurity using #grounded_theory. While economic, sociocultural, and religious beliefs shape the perceptions and adaptation towards food insecurity & and climate change, #social_ties and #networks can play a significant role in mitigating the negative consequences of #climate-induced food insecurity in #Pakistan. 🚨 NEW PUBLICATION | Making the EU fit for the permacrisis This foresight analysis by EPC's Eric Maurice, Laura Rayner and Philipp Lausberg investigates the EU’s resilience capacities in three areas most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis: health and social, economy and governance. 🔸 It reviews the EU’s response to the pandemic, examines current and future challenges for the EU to address, and identifies ways to prepare the European institutions, policies and procedures to make the EU more resilient henceforth. 🔸 It argues that the EU should develop a more holistic and foresight-oriented policymaking to better identify the linkages between the crises and transformations it faces, considering the necessary trade-offs between policies. 🌱🌍 *On the Ground: Understanding Climate Challenges Locally* 🌍🌱 As a researcher in the field of environment and climate change, I have experienced that the clearest vantage points are often found where the issues are most pressing. Recently, I had the opportunity of visiting a village for a research ground work of BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University in partnership with The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) . The locality is deeply impacted by climate change where I immersed myself in the community to gain a firsthand understanding of their struggles, suffering, and how they are trying to adapt to the changing world. This photo captures a moment of discussion with the resilient individuals from the village. There, our research director Munshi Sulaiman and our executive director Imran Matin established an active communication with them to listen, learn and understand their lived experience better. We're working to gain an evidence-backed understanding to design, test and promote solutions that address the climate impacts effectively. Climate change is a global challenge, but it's also a profoundly local one when it comes to the struggles and sufferings of the people. In the pursuit of effective climate adaptation solutions, it's crucial to start by understanding the local knowledge and experiences. This isn't possible from a distant urban setting and to design solutions that truly work, one must get close to the heart of the issue - the people. Let's keep pushing for a more sustainable, resilient future, one community at a time. #ClimateChange #LocalKnowledge #KnowledgeForABetterWorld #CommunityEngagement #ResearchForChange #SustainableSolutions

We're proud to present our latest #GlobalInsights Special Report. While many point to economic and political dynamics as key causes of unrest in the #Sahel, our new study dives deep into the nuanced relationship between #ClimateChange and these disturbances. Our findings reveal just how environmental shifts can magnify the socio-economic roots of instability. A must-read for those interested in global trends and impacts. 🌍 #SPSInsights #EnvironmentalImpact #SocioEconomicTrends #GlobalUnrest #Reassuringlythere Andy Dunn Oliver Maund Daniel Ratna Ixchel Almaral Jiménez

Reconnecting with intuitive knowledge for systemic change
2wOtto Scharmer recently wrote that “The number one problem facing humanity today is not climate change or inequality or war… Rather, it is our sense that we are powerless to change any of it.” Tackling the root causes of this sense of powerlessness, amongst citizens and leaders alike, might be a good focus for Anthropy 2025. I have plenty of ideas I am happy to share 😊
