As you may have noticed, we have been posting about LOCAL initiatives with which SHERPA Institute is associated, or that we have initiated. Yes, we are a GLOBAL nonprofit dedicated to engaging corporations in the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, but meaningful change happens at the local and regional level. We’ve posted about Anuradha Jain’s efforts in village mentorship to build entrepreneurial competencies, as well as their e-waste collection efforts. In the past, we’ve also shared the amazing efforts of Derya Uzun 戴尔雅, in earthquake recovery. Most recently, we shared the urgent need for the need in Tampa, Florida, USA to find a new home for Garage 5:17. Ginger Rockey-Johnson has secured a 6 month location, so we will be reporting more in coming months on that effort. There is an urgent need for volunteers to help spot clean the old location 7/12 and move to new one 7/13. If you are located in the metro-Tampa area, please consider helping. Call John at 917-648-0042 for info. The list goes on. This USA Holiday Weekend, we are proud to share that we are involved in CommUnity Day, a citywide family event in Decatur, Alabama, USA. Check out our logo in the flyer below. We are truly proud of this amazing event being pulled up by bootstraps. Yes, MLK said it is a cruel jest to tell a man with no boots to pull himself up by the straps, but there are some strong men and women pulling our city up with sandal straps, shoelaces, and bare feet if that’s what it takes! If you are in North Alabama, please stop by and visit our booth, where we will share information about our SDG Career Talks (offered globally) and have hands-on activities about our growing efforts for Pollinator Rescue! We are on a mission to save pollinators from collapse, by converting lawns, commercial/municipal turf, abandoned lots and otherwise uninhabitable landscape into pollinator habitat. Our food supply depends on turning the collapse of pollinators around! The Facebook link to this UNITING EVENT is: https://lnkd.in/gbReVnxb Stay tuned for more LOCAL initiatives, from Decatur to Delhi!

Economic empowerment for people with disabilities is not just about immediate gains, it's a commitment to fostering long-term sustainability, ensuring that projects leave a lasting positive impact on their lives well beyond their conclusion. With beneficiaries like Victoria Acayo serving as living testimonials to the crucial impact of investing in such initiatives, their stories reaffirm the enduring value and long-term benefits that well-planned and sustained projects can bring to the lives of people with disabilities. #ChallengeFundforYouthEmployment
#MondaySpotlight As we start a fresh week, we're excited to share a story from Kiryandongo District within the Mainstreaming Ambition Project. Acayo Victoria, the Counselor and Chairperson of Parents with Disabilities in Kiryandongo district, learned about the Mainstreaming Ambition project through the local government, which collaborated with representatives from Asili Agriculture searching for persons with disabilities. At that time, Victoria had a child with a disability. Showing a keen interest in the project, she decided to register for this project. Previously, the challenge for Victoria and others concerning farming was acquiring good quality seeds, leading to poor yields as they resorted to using low-quality seeds. The Mainstreaming Ambition project, through Asili Farm and in collaboration with Light for the World, provided solutions to these challenges, through a training that imparted valuable knowledge, and the distribution of quality seeds that significantly improved their farming practices. Despite facing challenges like pests, Victoria witnessed enhanced yields. She successfully harvested over 7 sacks of maize, utilizing the produce for both consumption and selling. Despite the unfortunate loss of her child, Victoria, fueled by her leadership role, continues to advocate for improved support for parents with children with disabilities through projects like these. The project not only addressed immediate challenges for people with disabilities but also empowered them to plan for a more promising future in agriculture. #MainstreamingAmbition #DisabilityInclusion Light for the World Federico Tonelli Silvester Kasozi Marion Lieser Denish Lubangakene

National Geographic tells us that bees go through four stages of work: The first stage: learning the basics. The bees begin their first task as soon as they come to life, which is to clean the cells in which they emerged and prepare the place to receive the bees that will follow them. Phase 2: Helping the next generation. The bees move into the care phase, where they take care of the larvae, feed them, and keep the hive well organized and running smoothly. The third stage: mastering different skills. In it, the bees are responsible for taking care of the hive's affairs, such as taking care of its maintenance and storing food. It also protects other bees, guarding the entrance to the hive, and fighting predators that threaten the community. Stage Four: Demonstrating altruistic leadership. Bees take their bravest step in the final stage, leaving the hive to forage for food, find pollen, and help us humans with cross-pollination.

First class BSc (Hons) Business with Marketing at ARU I Previous Web Assistant at ARU l Sports Activator
🌿 "But I'm only one person, how can I help the environment?" 🌍 This question often crosses our minds, and it's incredible how small actions can lead to significant impact. 🌱 Have you heard of Ecosia? It's a search engine on a mission to make the world greener with every search. Here's a fascinating fact: it only takes 45 searches to plant a tree! 🌳 Considering the average person conducts 4 Google searches a day, think about the potential positive change we can create collectively. As I delve into my Marketing major project here on LinkedIn, I'm excited to share that I'm focusing on the transformative impact of Ecosia. Drawing on my experiences as a Website Coordinator intern and my current role as a Web Assistant, I've seen firsthand the power of online platforms in shaping our world. Pause for a moment and ponder - how much do you search on your personal and work laptop? 🖥️ Based on statistics, the average person could plant 32 trees a year just by switching to Ecosia. Now, imagine if my 300 connections on LinkedIn all worked together - we could collectively plant nearly 10,000 trees! 🌲💚 By integrating sustainable practices into our online activities, we can turn our digital presence into a force for good. Join me in using Ecosia for your searches and let's create a positive impact on the environment, one search at a time. Together, we can make a difference! 🌐✨ #Ecosia #GreenSearch #ecofriendly #climatechange #reforestation #greentechnology #greentech #sustainabletech #environmentalimpact #climateaction #techforgood #greeninnovation #savetheplanet #climatesolutions #gogreen #forestrestoration
You did it: your searches have helped us plant 200 million trees! 🌳 That's 200 million trees that are actually in the ground, thriving, being monitored and protected. 200 million trees planted — and growing — means healthy rivers, safe habitats for wildlife, fertile soil, and the conservation of endangered species. It means fruits, nuts, and oils for local communities. It means more productive and resilient farms – and higher incomes. It means that tons of CO2 are captured every day 🌏 With every search and every share, you have allowed us to do so much good for the planet, and we have no plans to stop here. If everyone reading this shared Ecosia with a friend, we could reach 300 million in no time. Thank you, Ecosia community! Here's to 200,000,000 trees, and counting 👏
