This month's Staff Spotlight is Megan Cisler! Megan is our Administrator at Stone Gardens, and has been a loyal Menorah Park team member for 9 years! Thank you for all that you do! 👏👏 What do you like most about working at Stone Gardens? 👉 The sense of community at Stone Gardens is like none other. Walking down the hallway, you always receive a friendly hello, whether it’s from a resident or a staff member. Nowadays, that can be hard to find out there in the world. What motto do you live by? 👉 Working full-time and being a full-time mom has led me to adopt several mottos in life. I guess it depends on the day, but some of my favorites include: - Happiness is a choice - What you do has far greater impact than what you say - Tomorrow is another day - When life gives you lemons, make lemonade…or mix em’ in your drink Tell us about yourself. 👉 I have been a part of the Menorah Park family for almost 9 years now, and it’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed. I chose to continue my Menorah Park journey by joining the Stone Gardens family as the Administrator roughly two years ago. Prior to Stone Gardens, I was the Administrator at R.H. Myers Apartments for close to seven years. Menorah Park has played such a significant part in my career and in the development of myself as a person. When I don’t have on my Administrator hat, you’ll find me enjoying time with my husband, daughter, and our dog. I enjoy trying new restaurants, spending time at the zoo, trying to make my brown thumb turn green, and listening to a good book. Having a daughter has taught me that time is precious, and I believe it’s important to make the choice to actively seek out what makes you happy. #StaffSpotlight #Administrator #LoveWhatYouDo #LoveYourJob #StaffAppreciation #HealthcareHeroes #SeniorLiving #MenorahPark #ExcellenceInCaring

Balancing #Career and #Motherhood: My Personal Journey Can a mom of two have a career? My answer is: Yes, absolutely. As challenging as juggling life between work and kids can be, it can work. However, this journey is very individual and different from family to family. Let me share a glimpse into my life as a working mom of two young boys (aged 1 & 3), fresh off a 4-day business trip to Bavaria last week. This is how #TimeAway or #BusinessTrips work for our family: #Teamwork: My husband and I support each other fully. We've learned to sync our schedules using shared calendars and good old-fashioned communication. It wasn't easy at first, but we've found our groove 😉 #SupportSystem: We rely on a network of support, including kindergarten, grandparents, babysitters, and friends. #StayingPositive: Being positive that THIS time the kids don’t get sick again and simply knowing that the kids are in loving hands in your absence. #StayingConnected: FaceTime calls, silly videos, and snapshots from the road – basically sharing the journey helps to stay close to our boys. #Communication: We talk to our kids about our trips early on, making sure they understand we’re going away. What challenges have you come across in balancing your career & family life? Who can relate? Is this something you like to read more about in my posts? I’m curious, let me know. #Workingmum #Worklifebalance #Family #Parentlife #Forestry

Happy Friday! 😎 "Camp Counselor" may not sound impressive on a resume. But I'd disagree. There are many entry-level and lower-level positions where people gain massive amounts of technical skills, work ethic, and soft skills. As a camp counselor for 6th graders we... 🏕 Worked 12 - 14 hour days. 🏕 Watched up to 10 kids/day and an assistant. 🏕 Had 1:1's with each kid every week. 🏕 Took kids on field trips to Six Flags, King's Dominion, the aquarium, and more. 🏕 Started our work days at 5:30 am. 🏕 Taught kids survival skills, paintball, and tomahawk throwing. 🏕 Spoke with kids' parents about their children's social challenges and created plans to integrate them better into the groups. 🏕 Maintained a tight schedule transitioning our groups between activities every 30 - 45 minutes. Have you ever told a 6th grader it's time to stop playing paintball? Would not recommend it. 😆 When I see "camp counselor" on a resume I don't just look and say "Oh that's nice." It's a badge of honor and I want to hear from them about what they learned from their experience. If you have camp counselor experience I'd encourage you to share the challenges you faced and how they prepared you for your career. If you are a recruiter and you have a candidate with camp experience, I'd encourage you to take it seriously. Below is a photo of myself and my fellow counselors after one of our long days. Where did that energy go? 😅 #campcounselor #recruitment #recruiterlife #hiringpractices #resumeadvice #interviewadvice #happyfridayeveryone

First week of phased return complete ✅ Things I've learned: 1) I'm not in this alone - so many offers of support, encouragement and advice 💜 2) Phased return is a must - I'm processing the guilt / worry I feel about Sofia going to nursery alongside trying to understand all the changes that have happened whilst I was away. Its a lot to take in and the headspace shorter days have provided has been invaluable 🕥 3) I have a fantastic opportunity to re-set the way I work, the type of chance you only really get when starting a new job 💻 4) Things often aren't as scary as you think they are going to be! Sofia seems to already be enjoying nursery and making lots of new friends; I'm also enjoying thinking about complex challenges and finishing a cup of tea ⛰ 5) Each day will probably be different; some will be good and some won't be as good but the bad days don't define me - its how I learn from them that will🌞 6) A walk can solve many things. 📷 Photo from a walk I did this morning to mark the gap from Sofia going to nursery and me starting work. #maternityleave #returntowork
