As a PE fund manager there is no hard and fast rule about when to pivot, and sometimes you have to follow your gut instinct, even in the face of what appears to be the best advice. This is what our CEO Michael Trinkaus discussed during the “Building Resilient Funds” session of AngelList’s annual conference. Being flexible, being a good communicator, and being prepared to pivot at any given moment are key survival skills in today’s challenging market conditions where demand exceeds the capital available from investors by more than 3:1. “The more that you can think through and be forward-looking [...] the better off you'll be, and the more traction I think you'll get, and the quicker you'll be able to pivot if there's something that's not resonating with the market,” Mike said. “Because the idea is, you want to raise this capital and go out and invest as quickly as possible.
