How does your team deal with incivility?
This survey was a great opener to start really thinking about how psychologically safe is your workplace. What would you change? How might you go about it?
Definite food for thought....
Senior Lecturer & Lead of Applied Psychology & Human Factors research group, University of Aberdeen
Hello all #veterinary staff - we are still looking for participants for our study exploring #incivility and organisational support within the veterinary context (thanks to all who have taken part thus far). We are especially keen to recruit more #veterinarynurses as we currently only have ten nurse participants, as well as staff from large animal and equine practices. If you have 15mins to spare we would be very grateful if you could complete this survey: https://lnkd.in/e5S5HM2n
or give this post a share :-)

I think it's easy to become lost in a sea of courses, CPD, graduate programmes etc, but there are not many of them where you can find a balance between group work and support, and going through it at your own pace.
Through all my years of learning, I was late to the party where everyone learned how to learn. Now, I choose my courses and paths based on how I can make it fit MY style of learning, and how I want to do it.
You don't always grow sitting in your comfort zone, so there are some elements that involve (gasp!) other people, but I think this course really strikes the balance.
If you are within your first years of practice, or you are mentoring someone who is - have a think about the elements of practice that don't always get the focus in CPD or at vet school - like navigating imposterism or working on your time management.
Consider the pressure we are often under to magically develop a specialism - it's not for everyone, and you certainly shouldn't feel obliged to pigeonhole yourself because it's what others are doing. Be a GP vet - be the best one you can be :)
Introducing our brand-new course: GP Mastery 🏆
Unlock your potential with a comprehensive 9-month in-person and online program covering the essential skills needed to master general practice.
From refining your consulting skills to thriving as a GP vet, each module has been crafted by veterinary experts with years of experience in their fields to empower you both professionally and personally.
GP Mastery is a transformative journey for veterinary graduates in the early stages of their career AND for those returning to practice looking to re-fresh their GP skills.

In an ever changing world, change management in veterinary hospitals, is continuous.
We use to say we lived in a VUCA world, Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous.
We now recognise that a BANI world, Brittle, Anxious, Non Linear and Incomprehensible is a better description (more on this later).
It’s true from a systems approach, that everything is connected. It’s also possible to manage within those environments.
We do this when we manage animals in disasters 🔥, or when the emergency and critical care shift moves towards chaos. 🌪️ We’re expecting the unexpected.
In an ever changing world, change management is continuous.
Understanding the external and internal environments can help our veterinary hospitals to evolve with it.

🐈 Why open a cat-only veterinary clinic?
"Because cats are the best, obviously," says Dr. Ellie Lee, cofounder of Manchester Cat Clinic in Manchester, UK.
📹 In our video, Dr. Ellie shares a bit about her veterinary journey, including how the clinic came to occupy the oldest veterinary premises in their city.
💪 Plus, she talks about how Provet Cloud’s features and integrations (like Digital Practice!) are saving her and her team “loads of time” every day.
Let us show you how Provet Cloud can save YOU loads of time, too!

I'm genuinely hoping the UK decides against breed specific banning.
This isn't anymore productive than stereotyping humans, and implementing a "one size fits all" decision.
Each and every human deserves to be viewed as an individual, and just the same each and every four legged kiddo deserves that as well.
To make a bold and biased decision as this will not only penalize the kiddos that are kind, well behaved, and well trained, but it will break apart families, cause an increase in behavioral based euthanasia (what message does that send?), and hands down negatively effect the mental health of these kiddos and humans alike.
The Veterinary Industry already has staggering suicide rates, and increasingly high percentages of Veterinary professionals suffering from mental health struggles. The very last thing that the Veterinary Industry, or the amazing humans of the industry need, is to be forced to perform euthanasias on healthy dogs, entirely due to UK legislation. The amount of guilt, trauma, and pain this will cause will be unimaginable, and heartbreaking.
Please consider the domino effect a decision like this will cause.
An entire breed does not deserve to be penalized for simply existing.
Four legged kiddos are not born inherently "dangerous" or "aggressive", they are shaped by this world, their experiences, and the humans that are a part of those experiences.
Advocate, educate, provide resources, create positive change, and HELP families learn how to be responsible, well informed, proactive dog parents.
Dogs are not pets, they are family members, and they deserve to be protected, and respected.
As a mom of the bestest "pit mix" with the kindest heart, and a proud member of the Veterinary community, this isn't just a potential legislation, it's a personal attack 🤬.
