Achieving ambitious environmental sustainability goals is a priority for every member of the value chain facing increased pressure from consumers, NGOs, lawmakers, as well as industry peers. The pulp & paper packaging industry, which has been criticized for its typically high-energy, water, and emission intensity, could be in a better position to improve sustainability metrics if they assessed the total environmental impact of their packaging – including the production process.
