After delving into the works of esteemed stoic philosophers such as Marcus Aurelius, Cicero, and many others, I have come to understand the profound impact stoicism can have on our human emotions. Contrary to popular belief, stoicism does not advocate for the repression of our feelings but emphasizes the importance of being aware of them and responding with mindfulness.
One significant principle of stoicism is to refrain from meddling in other people's affairs. It encourages us to maintain a respectful distance, recognizing that we cannot control the actions or choices of others. By doing so, we not only preserve our own emotional well-being but also foster a sense of detachment that allows us to navigate life's challenges with greater equanimity.
Additionally, stoicism advises against divulging our deepest secrets to everyone we encounter. This is not out of a desire to suppress our emotions, but rather to exercise caution in whom we confide in. By carefully choosing those with whom we share our innermost thoughts, we can ensure a supportive and trustworthy network that contributes positively to our emotional state.
Furthermore, stoicism emphasizes the importance of not getting entangled in matters beyond our control,

I help Aerospace, Satellite & Defense firms Supercharge Growth by Delivering Top Leaders 🎙 Mission Critical: Defense Recruiting Podcast Host 🛰 Executive Recruiter🚀 High-growth & Mid-market 🛰 Elevating Women in Space
Rephrasing: Employers with the best financial designs, that choose to invest in more and better delivery team members for best practice environments, can best attract and retain talent.
But the small and medium size providers in 2621 counties are stuck with the worst financial design due to fewest lines of revenue and 15 - 30% lower payments. They must deal with the highest concentrations of worst quality, worst paying, most difficult health insurance plans. They cannot cherry pick locations or populations or plans as is common in counties higher in concentrations. They cannot bail out the lowest paying public plan concentrations (due to concentrations of elderly, poor, and disabled) with better paying private plans since they cannot recruit and retain the better employers. No training intervention can boost their workforce because the training interventions do not touch the financial design.
So the US designs for
public plans and employment based health insurance
plus DRG and RBRVS
plus performance based designs
plus costly micromanagement
plus new costs of delivery with increases in old and new costs
- will continue to take down more hundreds of hospitals and thousands of practices as they have for 40 years.
