“I am very disappointed in FDA's decision to approve menthol flavored e-cigarette products,” said Hasmeena Kathuria, MD, chair of the ATS Tobacco Action Committee. “U.S. surgeon general reports have made it explicitly clear that menthol-flavored tobacco products are attractive to youth, easier to get addicted to and harder to quit. "Equally concerning are the alarmingly high nicotine concentrations in the products approved by the FDA. The approved products contain nicotine levels that deliver more nicotine than a pack of cigarettes. “It is concerning that an agency dedicated to protecting public health would approve such an addictive product. I strongly encourage the FDA to reconsider this decision.”

It makes no sense that an agency charged with protecting public health would allow this.

It is very sad to hear. This will harm countless people, mainly poor people. The FDA caved to the big money of Big Tobacco yet again. They jeopardize an already bad reputation getting even worse. Shame...

Very disappointing especially when menthol is a flavor that is more appealing to teens.
