Today's health problems can't be solved with yesterday's principles; what works best "institutionally" and "locally" to tackle current health threats lies within the "One Health" approach. Man's health, the animals' health and that of the environment are interconnected; a threat to anyone of them is a common threat to all. #PreventZoonoses #ProtectWildlife #ProtectForests #keepthewild #keepussafe

This #EarthDay it's good to see the World Economic Forum focus on the impact of a changing climate on human health. This chart focuses on the impact of droughts and related health outcomes. #ClimateHealth is #PublicHealth, and while we do all we can to mitigate the impact we must continue to invest in public health. As the climate warms, our fragile public health systems will be even more important to protect the health of humans - infectious diseases, safe water, clean air, safe and nutritious food to eat. #WeAreNCPublicHealth https://lnkd.in/ePjUMiCj. Wildfire smoke linked to over 52,000 deaths in California, study reveals. In California, wildfire risk and severity have grown substantially in the last several decades. They estimate a total of 52,480 to 55,710 premature deaths are attributable to wildland fire over an 11-year period. The economic impact is estimatto be between $432 to $456 billion. These findings extend evidence on climate-related health impacts, suggesting that wildfires account for a greater mortality and economic burden than indicated by earlier studies. Climate change poses a significant threat to health issues in general and does not spare the fight against #NTDs. Rising temperatures and shifting weather patterns disrupt disease transmission, challenging our efforts to #beatNTDs. To prevail, we must adapt and swiftly enhance surveillance and monitoring for more effective public health interventions, safeguarding vulnerable communities. #climatechange #health #UHC
