AI has and will continue to impact State and Federal Codes of Evidence. Foundations for admissibility of electronic evidence, photographs, and possibly other types of evidence will become a bit more complex. I would urge the Law Institute, Pracitioners of Law, and Tech Professionals to research the impacts on the legal profession and find viable solutions. Legislative bodies and the judicial system have work to do. The practice of law will never stop evolving.

Going through my biennial continuing legal education cram sessions and a handful of programs have referenced the use of generative AI in the practice of law. The TL;DR appears to be that it can be very useful for things like organizing and finding patterns or other information in large data sets (like discovery documents), but beyond that absolutely no one should be using it to do legal research (because of hallucinations) and any other generative uses (like generating basic legal agreements, blog posts, etc.) need to be proofread and checked by someone with legal training (like a lawyer, paralegal, etc.) who is also aware of the limitations of the technology before anyone should rely upon it. #law #LawPracticeManagement #GenerativeAI #AI
