HMODA CIRCULAR is the circular economy project that aims to recover production waste to make new products while respecting the principles of eco-design. HModa donated to all its employees a pencil case made from leather leftovers of PELLETTERIA GAB S.R.L. and made by the social cooperative Quid Impresa Sociale, which promotes the labour inclusion of vulnerable people. The pen holder was accompanied by other circular economy products such as: - Perpetua, the pencil made through an innovative process using 80% recycled graphite powder. Particularly resistant, it writes 21.6 times more than traditional pencils and is made without the use of wood, paints and glues; - The paper tag made of biodegradable paper that can be planted with mixed flower seeds. We are enthusiastic about being actors in the change towards a circular economy; this gift is a symbol of our contribution and commitment to a sustainable and responsible future. HModa, with this present, aims to involve all its employees in the sustainability journey by sharing tangible messages in order to create awareness and inspire people in the transition towards sustainable consumption. Their stunning B Corp score of 153.6 places them amongst the top five global fashion B Corps, joining giants like Patagonia. 🌍 Their journey to this achievement is simply inspiring. House of Baukjen saw a 42% surge in their B Corp score through their latest recertification. How did they do it? By adding a fourth Impact Business Model and innovatively transforming their dyeing processes with Portuguese manufacturing facilities. This new method reduces supplier and dyehouse emissions by 50%, and if adopted widely, could cut the global fashion sector's carbon footprint by 6.7%! 📉 CEO Geoff van Sonsbeeck stated, "You cannot cheat a B Corp certification, you can't greenwash this." And Baukjen de Swaan Arons, Co-founder and Creative Director, stressed team collaboration in reaching this milestone. With the average German discarding about 5.5 kilograms of clothes per year, there's a substantial need for a reliable recycling system. Recyclehero, a Hamburg-based start-up, provides a free collection service for used clothing across Germany. They ensure these items find new life in local second-hand shops or charity organisations, instead of becoming a burden on the environment or being shipped off to the Global South. The service has gained significant traction, benefiting both individuals and businesses. Customers can easily turn their old clothes into team-building activities at their office or rely on the convenience of Recyclehero's collection system.
