👀 Let’s discover the WMTR project funded by the GREEANDOPT call. ➡ WMTR aims to to reuse materials that are currently considered as waste in the aeronautics industry and are buried at the end of the production chain. The ambition is to reuse these materials in sectors other than their initial destination, in order to avoid using new materials. The approach is not limited to the reuse of these materials, but aims to build an optimal process for reusing them. Alternatives to the processes used in the aerospace industry can be found if the performance requirements are different in other sectors. In this way, less energy-intensive processes could be put in place depending on the needs of the sectors concerned. The pilot line to be built aims to produce more accessible composite prostheses to give amputees greater access to sport. Optimising the energy cost of this production line will lead to a database that can be used to match a need with an energy-optimised process using reused materials that can be applied in different sectors. 🥇 Congratulations to SISCO COMPOSITES and Hopper for this promising project and good luck in its implementation! 9x faster production with #FPP technology of Cevotec This very complex multi-material part, a horizontal tailplane fairing, can be produced 9x faster than how it is done today, which was demonstrated within a multi-party, supported R&D project. That was the main attraction on our booth at the 3rd Composite Sandwich Conference organized by ThermHex Waben GmbH and Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS. We had 2 full days to meet our partners and customers together with Dr. Florian Lenz My short reflection on the event: - It was one of the best organizations I have participated in because of the focused theme, the ideal number of participants, and the excellently planned two days. - Great Innovations are on their way, it was fulfilling to witness how light-weight materials invented first for Aerospace are making their way to a wider audience, automotive. - Thermoplastics were the main focus because of the production advantages and recyclability in the design of lightweight materials. - The history of ThermHex Waben GmbH product innovations was very interesting and a great example showing how good innovations in this field come to life, congratulations by heart for your innovative continuous PP honeycomb lines. #Composites #automation #lightweight #recycling #FPP #aerospace

🚀➡️🌍 Advanced lightweight materials going from Space to Earth!   Adamant Composites Ltd. has been selected by the AMULET H2020 committee to launch an activity on the use of film adhesive for the automotive industry in collaboration with our partners at Tmbk Partners: https://lnkd.in/dGgU2pM2   Our #filmadhesives were initially developed to bring a functional lightweight joint in spacecrafts, enabling an efficient heat propagation and therefore unlocking innovation.   Through the COSADA activity (the short name of COmposite Solid structural ADhesive for Automotive) we will transpose this technology to the #automotive industry, including #veils produced by TMBK. The goal is to bond #composite reinforcement onto the steel backbone in order ultimately to save weight and reduce the carbon footprint.
