The developers at Altair are constantly working to add features and optimize performance for customers like ASC. I'm happy to share the highlights of our work on enabling #gem5 to run a userspace network software stack: * Now you can run unmodified #DPDK applications on #gem5 * A single-core that loosely models an ARM Neoverse N1 can sustain more than 50Gbps network bandwidth (compared with less than 10Gbp with kernel networking) * We have developed a simulation model in gem5 for a hardware load generator that can replay network traces and not only increase the accuracy of per packet latency sampling but also speed up simulation time * We have developed a suite of 6 network-intensive benchmarks, including a DPDK key-value store that can readily run on gem5 and work with the load generator model. * The gem5 extensions and applications are open source at: https://lnkd.in/giRm-iw3 The credit goes to the students Chinedu Johnson Umeike Siddharth Agarwal Nikita Lazarev who pulled off this very valuable contribution to the community.
