The most impressive thing infrastructure veterans are building today isn’t a bridge or a skyscraper — it’s a digital version of their worksites. Now, in construction zones across the globe, innovators are using digital twins to monitor - and even predict - what's happening on the ground as trucks rumble in and cranes move huge steel beams across urban skylines. This is the story of how GAMMON CONSTRUCTION LTD, GTwin, has helped build more efficiently and reduced waste and costs while anticipating and mitigating worksite hazards. ALL METHODS SAME AS LONG AS TUNNEL LINING WHEATHER AMERICAN TUNNEL OR AUSTRIAN TUNNEL OR AUSTRALIAN TUNNEL OR AN INDIAN TUNNEL MATTERS AN ENGINEERING HANDLING ..
The official magazine of the British Tunnelling Society at Progressive Media International (PMI) Ltd
BEHIND THE SCENES AS PACADAR COMPLETE HS2 NORTHOLT SEGMENTS Production of the concrete segments for HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd’s 8km Northolt Tunnel has been completed. PACADAR U.K. LIMITED began work on the production of the segments in April 2022 and have completed the production of 59,129 segments, which make up 8,447 tunnel rings – seven segments per ring. The segments are installed by the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) after the ground has been excavated, creating the inner and outer lining of the tunnel. The segments are fed to the segment erector through the back of the machine and are installed through automation, reducing safety risks for the tunnel engineers. Each segment weighs 7 tonnes on average and 130 precast segments have been produced daily by the Kent based factory. The segments are now transported by rail from Kent to West Ruislip – with each train removing 56 lorries from the roads. Electric construction main problem is from the cost part. Norway can done this type of construction because they have good renewable energy source and the government help. We should focus on how to make this realistic and make it affordable (save cost)
Since the first electric construction machine delivered by Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) to Sourtheast Asia earlier in June last year, the construction industry players seems excited to unveil the answers to their decades-long problems - wasted operation costs due to idling. Let’s take a look at the options available in the market!
