Food For Thought: As the year draws to a close, it's an opportunity to take stock of all the events that have taken place and how they have impacted us. This is a time for self-reflection, a time to contemplate the ups and downs, the highs and lows of the year that has passed. It's a chance to think about the goals we have achieved, the challenges we have overcome, and the lessons we have learned. Perhaps this year has been exceptionally significant for you, filled with moments of great joy and happiness, or maybe it has been a year of loss and hardship. Regardless of the kind of year you have had, it is worthwhile to reflect on it and think about how it has shaped you. By taking the time to reflect, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. We can look back on the decisions we have made, the relationships we have formed, and our experiences and use this knowledge to guide us as we move forward into the new year. 🎉 Celebrating 25 Years of Life Experience! 🎉 Today marks a significant milestone - a quarter of a century on this planet. It's the perfect opportunity for a retrospective and to set ambitious goals for the future. In conversations about aspirations, I often reference the concept of a "North Star." 🌟 For me, a North Star symbolizes the dreams and ideas that resonate deeply and guide my journey forward. A common misconception is that we each have only one North Star, predestined and singular. I believe the sky is filled with countless stars, each shining with its own light and significance. The first 25 years of my life have been spent exploring some of them: ✨ The Star of Passion: Whether it's the adrenaline of sports or the logic of computer science, striving for excellence is what I live for. 📚 The Star of Knowledge: An insatiable thirst for learning and exploring the theoretical corners of understanding. 🌍 The Star of Freedom: Traveling the world and cherishing independence at every step. 🤝 The Star of People: Learning invaluable lessons from every individual I've encountered. With a Master's degree in software engineering, I'm now reaching for the entrepreneurial star. 💪 Courage: It's what I needed to take the first step. 🚀 Resilience, Hard Work, Passion, Luck, Support from incredible people around me: It's what I'll need all the way to succeed in this path. I have no illusions of immediate, groundbreaking success. I understand this journey is a marathon, not a sprint—filled with highs and lows, achievements, and challenges. Yet, the dream of attaining freedom, flexibility, creativity, and purpose in my work resonates with me more than ever, and I am convinced this is the path for me. 🌟 Reflecting on Juneteenth and New Beginnings 🌟 Yesterday was Juneteenth, a day of profound liberation and reflection. To celebrate, I decided to embark on a new adventure: learning how to golf 🏌🏾♀️ ! 🎉 Decked out in my vibrant and stylish golf attire, and with my natural hair in its full glory, I embraced this new challenge. Juneteenth reminds me to fervently pursue the promise for liberation - the freedom to show up as our true selves in spaces that once excluded us. It's about choosing ourselves, whether it's convenient or not. This theme resonates deeply with a personal milestone in my life: stepping down as CEO. It was a journey of self-liberation, filled with lessons and growth. In my blog post, I delve into this journey of choosing myself, the challenges, the triumphs, and the continuous path towards true liberation. While we still have a long way to go to fully realize liberation in society, I believe that if we can't activate it within ourselves, it will be difficult to embrace it when the world finally lives up to the promise--freedom for all. Forever thankful for the individuals placed in my life. In 2014 I met Evelyn Forde MBE through Future Leaders as we both shared the ambition to step into Headship. Now in 2023, as I reflect on how far we have both come and the things we have been able to achieve from very challenging starting points, it makes me feel incredibly thankful and even more hopeful for the future. My reminders and encouragement for others; 1. Problems and obstacles will arise but that should never kill your dreams. Draw all the learning you can from it and consider how you can use it to galvanise a newness of strength and empower future decisions 2. There will always be someone ready to champion you. Never feel that you are alone. Reach out for support. 3. Network, network, network. Stay connected with likeminded individuals as they will advocate for you and open doors that you never thought would be possible 4. Never stay where you are just tolerated, go where you are celebrated and appreciated. You have the power to change your environment. 5. Don’t allow others to devalue your knowledge and skills. Know your value and worth. Give yourself permission to build your own empire and the right people will be drawn to you. 6. Treat yourself and others with great care. We all have a story and we all have a purpose. Supporting others to become the best version of themselves is a wonderful gift. Fill your cup and take great joy with pouring into others. 7. The world is a very big place. If you haven’t found your ‘angels’ or guidance alliance, be sure to know they are out there. Don’t loose hope.
