Britain's third-largest insurer Direct Line is no longer offering new business quotes on Range Rovers because thefts have become such a problem, The Sunday Times can report. Thefts are also on the up for certain types of Lexus SUVs, mainly the NX and RX, and the Toyota RAV-4. There are even reports Land Rover's own white-labelled insurance, underwritten by LV, is refusing to cover some Land and Range Rovers. A 21% rise in car thefts in 2022-23 and a much bigger rise in the thefts of some SUVs mean these cars in some riskier areas could be borderline uninsurable, or at the least very expensive. https://lnkd.in/exgv5XcJ

$5000 deductible is too high, but you have to take it! 😮 Yesterday we Insured a 2024 BMW IX Electric and most insurance companies imposed a $5000 deductible on this vehicle without giving the client the option to lower it even if client wanted to pay extra. Client asked why? In general there are two main reasons: Cost of Repairs are too high and insurance company wants to manage their claims expenses better. BMW IX electric starts at around $100K after taxes and has specialized parts that can be very expensive to replace or repair. 💲💲💲💲 Claim Frequency: Some vehicle models have a history of being involved in more frequent accidents or claims. Given that BMW IX just came out in 2022 it is likely that frequency is NOT an issue in this scenario. Aside from higher deductible, the cost of insurance for BMW IX was also noticed to be about 30% higher compared to its counterparts when we shopped around. Next time you are in the dealership to test drive one, make sure you also check the rates for this vehicle with your insurance company before making a commitment as it can be $50 to $100 per month higher than what you pay now! 💡 #insurance #electric #deductible

With the average cost of vehicles rising and repairs becoming more expensive and complex, auto dealerships should consider re-evaluating the value of their inventory.   In December 2023, the average new vehicle listing reached a new height from the last two years at $48,817. At this same time, the supply of available unsold new vehicles in the U.S. was at 2.66 million units. This was about 50% higher than the year prior.
