We're counting down the days until the start of TReND in Africa's neuroscience workshop in Rwanda! Saskia de Vries from the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics is part of an Allen Institute team making the journey to Carnegie Mellon University Africa. Alongside other experts, she'll be showing students how to access and analyze our open science resources. The mission of TReND (Teaching and Research in Natural Sciences for Development in Africa) is to support biomedical research in Africa by giving African researchers the tools and expertise to advance their own research goals. • The image features Saskia de Vries, identified as the Associate Director of Data and Outreach at the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics, with a quote about her advocacy for open science and computational neuroscience, set against a background that includes the Trend in Computation and Machine Learning (TReNDS CoMInA) logo.

Quote: I am a strong advocate for Open Science and am excited to share our data and tools with students across Africa who are eager to learn about the brain and computational neuroscience.
Too often, despite best intentions, open source tools and data remain
in the hands of those who made them. In efforts to further open and democratize science, I am eager to broaden our
computational neuroscience community.
I look forward to seeing what these scientists will find in these rich data and the questions that they are looking to explore.
